You can buy any one game separately. The master chief collection is just a bundle of all the halo games. So if you just want to play halo reach just buy halo reach.
Just FYI you can’t play any of them offline. So if that’s your jam be aware of that limitation.
Iirc there’s also no split screen co-op. I was so excited for MCC until I learned they pulled it out
Online co-op has also been broken for years and never fixed. Constant crashes.
My buddy and I played Reach and Halo 1 fine with online co-op. They might have fixed it since you played. Or they broke it since I played lol
Tried to play Halo 3 I think it was with my girlfriend a month or two ago and it crashed within the 30 minutes
I think it was specifically 2 we were having issues with as we were trying to go through the entire thing in order.
It’s been about a year since then though.

They set it up weirdly but it’s because it has a launcher that you chose what to play iirc so in actually TMCC is a launcher that acts as a bundle that’s a base game in steam while every game acts as a DLC for said main game, but when you buy the “DLC” you get the launcher with it.
