    A more compelling viewpoint was proposed by Woody Allen, back in his standup comedy days of the 1960s:
    “Why are our days numbered, and not say… lettered?”

      Because Julius Caesar and Pope Gregory XIII decided on this when they made the calendar we use today. And nobody dared to say no to them.
