Bell Media also confirmed CTV Sci-Fi subscribers will continue to have access to all episodes of Strange New Worlds, Discovery, Picard, Lower Decks, and Prodigy via CTV.ca and the CTV app.
Well, that’s convoluted…
Yes, we still have them all.
I have noticed that all of these are still available ‘On Demand’ on BellFibe or in the Fibe app for CTV Sci-fi channel subscribers. The classic series are still in the forward schedule in Fibe.
Yarr 🏴☠️
50% of the reason I keep the app is for Trek. Especially Lower Decks. If that’s no longer showing up on it, then yeah I’m going to cancel it I guess.
It’s just stupid because I was happily paying for access. And they (I guess Paramount maybe forcing Bell’s hand) messed it up and lose paying customers.
Back to the pirating seas it be.
Yarr! Tasha Yarr!
I’m right in the middle of a DS9 rewatch so this stinks.
Bell 👎🏻
I suspect this one’s not their fault, but that’s an evergreen statement.
This one’s about Paramount’s global strategy not Bell Media’s.
Since Paramount announced it’s global protocol of avoiding selling or renewing exclusive licences for Star Trek to other streamers, it’s been only a matter of time until Bell’s exclusive licence for the new shows ran out.
It’s one of the main reasons we’ve hung onto the CTV Sci-fi channel vs switching to Crave. (The other being that it has most of the SyFy shows.)
Bleh. I got Crave for Star Trek stuff, but wouldn’t have if it didn’t have other things I wanted to watch. What even is CTV Sci-fi? Do I have to get a cable subscription for this?
CTV Sci-Fi is the Cable Channel Formerly Known As Space.
Well, shit.
Do… Do I have to pay for CTV? Like, isn’t that one of the free channels? Is their on demand stuff paid?
You do have to subscribe to the CTV sci-fi channel, which is different than CTV.
Obligatory F— the Robellus triopoloy!
for completely unrelated reasons nothing to do with this or current trends in the streaming industry, I am really glad I’ve been cleaning up my plex server lately
