  • not in a biological sense no. peanuts and almonds are legumes.

    Basically there is a difference between the biological and the culinary definition for some foods. For instance a common example is that bananas are berries, and neither strawberries nor raspberries are berries biologically, However the culinary definition would treat them as the oppisite. same idea with Tomatoes (biologically a fruit, culinarily a vegetable)




  • i mean historically, this isnt new. CPUs and GPUs will always introduce some new compute unit thats highly specific workloads using up die space. take cpu examples like AVX2, AVX512 for example, or Aegia Physx hardware, or Nvidias Tensor units to allow for tech like raytracing/upscaling or all hardwares video decoder/encoders.

    Companies will push the changes on their hardware regardless, and they will only remove it if it interferes with a core design of a chip (e.g Intel P/E cores disable AVX512 because E cores do not have AVX512 units) or gets i a point that barely anyone uses it.

    if you never want to buy into thia kind of tech, then choose to never buy whoever is the most popular cpu/gpu in a market, because people at the top invent new things to further the gap between them and everyone else, as they are usually first and foremost, publically traded companies.


  • its for cutscenes. because without it, you get situations that happen a lot on underpowered devices (e.g the switch) where when you DO hit a cutscene, something looks very low res and low detailed because it was designed to be looked from afar with low performamce impact. It draws away from the immersion factor.

    a common situation are games on mobile that are also playable on console/pc (e.g some gacha rpgs). Some character models use texture normal maps and not physical 3d models, so when you look at them zoomed up, it looks really off.


  • it’s working in the sense that i slows it down. However how denuvo works is that there are usually are generations of denuvo that get cracked, so once one gets cracked in a generation, theres a handful that will be cracked with it. if a company is using an older generation of denuvo, you may typically see day 1 cracks, which ultimately means the company paid denuvo for nothing, but the point is, denuvo wasn’t meant to stop piracy first, it was meant to appease investors that require denuvo to be implemented.

Its why for example, mobile devices have widevine levels. those levels basically determine how “unlocked” the device is and services will refuse to offer full functionality to unlocked devices because of it, be it audio or video.

    Members of VESA, who control the displaypprt standard are generally computer companies are mostly not in the business of media, so they value specs over drm on changes, which for example a use case is that displayport allows for daisychaining diaplays.



  • buying tech products by brand allows brands to sell you a shitty product at premium price points. companies will always shit out bad eggs at times, and its your job to know which product line are bad and not let brand loyalty bypass that.

    at the bare minimum, if you are buying by brand, buy it solely based on customer support, as some companies are significantly better at that than others, which is an objective trait.
