I hear there are different kinds of instances. I found .world by accident. My question is, do they all form some super conglomerate where all instances can see the others? Or do you have to, like, create a different username/pw for each one to view content in the other ones?
Yes. You can see some posts on our community were even posted from Mastodon. All these different instances form the federation, which you can learn more about by reading the starter guide here.
