• I’m not so sure about this. We already have plenty of encrypted messengers with various states of federation and cross platform support.

    I’d much rather see a social messengers implement XMPP or Matrix, or at least MLS if you don’t want to use those.

      I agree with you. Matrix and xmpp already work pretty well. There isn’t really need for another messaging app. There are many other messaging apps as well.

          The Lemmy clients are fine because they interoperate on the same protocol. People can switch between them with ease.

          This looks to be a new protocol that people will be stuck on if they choose to use it.
