Hello everyone!

Something I haven’t seen discussed that much is power consumption in the cellular chips of the new iPhones. Everything seems to focus around CPU/GPU recently.

I remember when 3G first came out, the chips were extremely power hungry until a couple generations later. Is the same true with the iPhone modems? I’m wondering if the 15 Pro will have reduced power consumption on 5G uwb vs the 14 Pro.

Thanks!

I would assume over time the 3rd party modems get more efficient as well, though? Does anyone know if improvements have been made in the last 3 generations of iPhones?

The 12 used an x55 modem, the 13 used an x60 modem, and the 14 an x65 modem, so yes. There have been process shrinks across these updates which generally lead to lower power consumption.
