And the Apple Music playing music on “My Station” dies after playing a song or two still exists. I fee like this bug has been there since Big Sur.

Also, external display swapping bug still exists, iMessage on MacOS no longer recognizes that I am the family organizer when trying to approve ScreenTime requests…This release isn’t any worse than the last, but Apple really needs a “bug-fix” release. A bunch of “just works” features aren’t working.

I thought the Apple Music thing was just me. More specifically, it’s just my one computer…

The Apple Music thing seems like it’s related to some bad networking code, like a queue that the first bad request blocks and it never clears itself.

I think the specific network issue for me is losing internet, like if you unplug the Ethernet cable it seems to trigger it.

I’m on WiFi on 1 gig/1 gig fiber. This has been happening for ~2 years. If you search for others, you will find dozens of posts to Reddit and Apple support. There is never a solution. I guess I will just have to continue to avoid stations that don’t have a set playlist going forward. Here’s to hoping MacOS 15 fixes the issue.

That’s weird, does it just happen mid playlist?

I’m on fiber+reliable wireless too, I just noticed the same issue happens when changing wifi networks. Maybe it’s a red herring.

It only happens on “stations”. My playlists work fine beginning to end. But if I play the discover or “my” station, it stops playing. mid song after several minutes. There is no pattern to it, no specific time. It happens on any network I’m on, wireless or wired.

Snow Leopard was my favorite macOS release. No new features to speak of, just bug fixes and optimizations. It’s good to do that every so often to keep things from turning into a mess.

That was when they were on a two-year release cycle, too, so there were basically no major features released between 2007 and 2011. The current new release every year (with features) is probably too fast for reliability and stability, especially because they need to make the ecosystem work with other devices (iPhone, iPad, watch, TV, etc.), and try to combine cross-platform features or maintain some cross platform parity between MacOS and the others.

If they want to do yearly releases, with new features for every device every year, they need to reduce the number of features. There’s no point to 20+ features in an update if half of the features from last year stopped working correctly.

One does not learn System Settings, you just use the search bar and hope one of the three different results has the setting you actually need.

        RIP System Preferences.

Yeah, I read a lot of angry posts about it (as well as controversial Stage Manager). Still, time to upgrade, I guess. Don’t want to lag behind too much.

At least you don’t have to use Stage Manager if u don’t want to, unlike the reorganized System Settings

Just upgraded my M1 Air, loving the new animated wallpapers and lock screen.

My only pet peeve is that the offline phase of the upgrade took a whole 20 minutes - something which no other OS requires - yes, even for Windows, the offline phase of an upgrade is usually in single digits.

So this is something Apple definitely needs to improve upon.

I can imagine some scenarios where 20m feels like a long time, but it goes by really quickly if you’re doing something. I set mine to update then took a shower. I honestly expected it to take more than an hour, but the 20m flew by and the computer was ready to go before I was.

Sure, I mean it’s not a big deal. But it felt a bit odd considering macOS and Apple Silicon usually flies in pretty much every other task, so the lengthy update just felt a bit out of place.
