Well, lots of countries went all in on EVs and the hydrogen thing they were hoping for is ether not going to pan out or is going to take longer. (People complain about a lack of chargers, there are only a couple hydrogen charging station in the US, so, if they want to be selling cars in a couple years they really had to change.

Turns out I was close: Toyoda stepped down, and the new CEO is apparently gung-ho for EVs.
