So if the strike continues Ford will not survive as a company, but Ford is ALSO willing to take its chances on not negotiating further, setting an early and hard “limit in how much it was willing to spend to end the strike” as though labor is not crucial, or even very important to the continuing existence of Ford.
“We’re all gonna DIE if you don’t stop the strike, but we’ll eagerly take that chance.”

The best Ford I ever had was an Escort, which I learned was actually a Mazda behind the badge.
