Suppose there’s this site I really like, and I like the fediverse, and I think it would be awesome if they joined the fediverse, to benefit everyone involved. Is it like how it was in the Zorro movie where they vote California into the US, Zorro swipes all the voting boxes with a Z, and everyone cheers, or is it not possible for just any random schmoe site to join?
The software which runs that site needs to be compatible with the ActivityPub protocol. Most of them aren’t and it is very difficult and time consuming to add ActivityPub to random software which hasn’t been designer for it from the start.
the site would need to implement the activitypub protocol
it can get very complex, but it depends on how interactive they want to be.
It would probably be more feasible to host an ActivityPub instance on a subdomain.
What is the site?
It’s more of a hypothetical question, but I’ve heard someone on here put forward the idea that this site should be in the fediverse, which inspired the question.
Yeah, it’s going to be tough. It looks like they’re using custom software for it, which means basically the most realistic path to get there would be to toss the site and switch to something like Wordpress which I am guessing they don’t want to do.
Wouldn’t they just need to actively operate a community on any fediverse instance?

I’m deeply puzzled as to how that spam comment was posted under my account 2 days ago. I’m scanning every device for malware now. Does anyone know if there is a way to see more info (to identify which IP/client posted the removed comment)?
