Yesterday I tried to explain wet bulb to my family cause they’re outdoorsy and not used to thinking about dangerously hot conditions.
Did not receive the best response but at least they will recognize the term now.
Most people have no clue and need to be educated on these things. You did the right thing!
I have no clue and would like to be educated on the subject, could you possibly tell me the best place to read up on this is?
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wet-bulb_temperature summarizes it quite well. It’s basically when your sweat no longer cools you through evaporative cooling.
What’s the source for this image? I want to keep an eye on it as the summer progresses…
edit: I found it hereIt’s pretty wild, the world went about seven years without breaking the record, and we’ve broken it in two days.
Man, look at that jump. All graphs from this year have been like that and a similar timescale. North Atlantic sea surface temperature and Antarctic sea ice extent anomaly come to mind
If warming is a nonlinear process, then this jump is really when it all becomes undeniable.
The we really going to beat that record on a regular basis
