I actually quite enjoyed that it wasn’t a typical entertainment-type interview, and what other interviewer is going to ask him about taking the subway? 😆

The one comment I’d make is that Toronto and Vancouver are major Canadian cities, while Manitoba is a province. It’s corresponding major city is Winnipeg, which is the name I’d expect of a ship of the same class. But while I most people around the world have probably heard of Toronto and Vancouver, Winnipeg is probably less familiar a name outside Canada. At this point I’m expecting every little mention to pay off in the finale, so perhaps we’ll find out then.

What I’d love is if her brother showed up with her too. (I love the rel-life connections.)

Let’s be honest, most people who learn Tai chi as an exercise also don’t realize that it’s joint locks and throws.

Don’t take it personally, applying for a job is a game of chance as much as a game of merits. It’s simply a numbers game and luck whether your resume even gets looked at in the first place, even if you’re résumé how all their keywords. Hundreds, maybe thousands, of other resumes also hit their keywords.

If you’re lucky enough to get through the first sifting and get an interview with the hiring person (not an HR screener who doesn’t know anything about the job), then you can ask and maybe get a response on how you could have improved. (Don’t ask why you weren’t hired.)

While there must certainly be some devout Muslims who try their best to keep the “rules”, as I’d expect in any group, a lot of Muslims are not so different frombthe rest of us non-Muslims.

My coworker is a former Muslim who had to leave his home country due to persecution when he became a Christian. Here, he’s made Muslim friends who regularly invite him over for dinner and they serve… Pork. They say because he is not a Muslim, they respect that and don’t force him to eat halal. But why does not forcing him to eat halal equate to them eating pork?

They are genuinely his friends, but he is also their “excuse” to break halal.

Except I’m not really sure what the look is, it doesn’t really feel like any ST aesthetic. The delta is obscured at all times, and the rest is not really Star Trekky.

I was really hapy for Wil to be included in Prodigy. I felt like Picard S3 snubbed him. Of course, his presence there would have basically made the whole season pointless, but they got everyone back together, including Michelle Forbes, but not him. And Grown Up Traveler Wesley was basically just an in-universe Wil Weaton, my friend and I both kept calling Wes “Wil” instead.

I would guess CTV would want to do a weekly release, as normal television goes, and Netflix putting out all the episodes at once kind of ruins that. People who want to watch will go online and pirate/VPN it from Netflix. So them putting it on their tv line up ends up being business-stupid.

But why not just stream and also put them all out at once, too? Must they also broadcast on television? I really don’t know the intricacies of television networks. CTV has the rights for both (otherwise they couldn’t do both), but I presume it’s only their own internal policies that would prevent an online-only release.

I was so pleased for her, that she got to be immortalized in the show like that. I feel like that’s something really special that this generation of Trek shows can do: really honour the people behind it.

I miss flip phones for similar reasons. I loved flicking them open and snapping them shut.

It’s basically the same idea. Terry Farrell is now part of the Delta Flyers podcast and (without going back to find the specific episode to directly quote) essentially said she tested with the prosthetic, and someone else said We hired a model, why are you covering her up?

People are saying being funny and having confidence, and they’re right, and I’m going to tell your why. When being around you makes someone feel good, they will want to be around you more. That’s not exclusive to romantic relationships, it’s true also of friendships and business relationships, too.

An acquaintance asked me out not long ago, I declined. His looks had nothing to do with it, it was his negative personality. The few times I’d talked with him, all he ever did was complain about stuff. Complaints (without solutions) are inherently negative. I don’t need negative energy in my life. A romantic partner has to make life better.

If your expectation is for someone to come and make you happy, then you are a happiness-sink. You drain joy from other people instead of mutually building up each other. No one wants a joy-drain, and I’ll be honest with you, your attitude is one of a drain.

So, the question is, how do you make a someone’s life better? Do you being laughter to her? Do you make her feel safe? Do you give her confidence in herself? Do you bring interest to her life? Do you make her feel heard and seen? And to be clear, someone should do all those things for you mutually, too. Two people should be building each other up.

The last guy I wanted to ask out (but he abruptly lost his job and had to move to another city, so I never did) he was in his late 20s and already balding quit a bit, lanky, and has terrible posture. Physically, he not very attractive. But not only was he very funny (a good start), he was also doing his masters (intelligent and hard working), played musical instruments (passion and interest), and spent a lot of time volunteering (kind and caring). Everything about his personality drew new to him. (And honestly, next to that, what positive would I have brought to him?)

As a fountain pen user, I would suggest against that unless you know it suits her personality. Fountains pens require maintenance, and certainly it’s easy maintenance, but it’s definitely more work than a ballpoint. They are a hobby, and if it’s is not her thing, she’ll never use it.

I would instead recommend a nice ballpoint pen set where the ink can be replaced when empty. Something she can use without having to think about or maintaining it.

I never thought of Sisko and Yates as unhealthy, but I never found their relationship interesting or compelling. I thought Bashir and Dax, as a character who did not return Julian’s interest, had more chemistry than Sisko and Yates.

I know someone who had uterine fibroids. It didn’t really bother her otherwise, so she just let them be, until people started congratulating her on being pregnant. (Then she had them removed.)

You might enjoy “A Christmas Movie Christmas”, where the protagonists wake up and find themselves as the protagonists in a Christmas movie reality. It’s a comedy where you basically laugh at the troops while they call themselves out on it.

I’m going to play devil’s advocate here: how is the guy on the phone supposed to know it really is the police on the other side and not just some guy trying to scam his way into a freebie?

You could say that companies should err on the side of caution, but then every potential customer could pull the same, and then how do you weed out the real ones from the fake ones?

You could argue the service should be free anyway, but then we’d be arguing a different point.

Dukat. I don’t like him a person, but he’s a great character. No other Trek character has ever been written as richly or layeredly as he.

At first you assume he’s your basic racist bent on hatred and power. Then you realize his obsession with Kira isn’t just about destroying an enemy, but his secret love-hate for Bajoran women. We meet Ziyal whom he mostly loves, but is ashamed of. He goes mad, starts a cult, makes himself appear Bajoran and starts a relationship with Kai Winn (ostensibly with other motives, but I think he reveled in it), and ultimately dies for and in his mad faith.

DS9 is lower on my list when I rank the various series, but some of the characters, and defininitely Dukat, top the list of characters.

I’ve been shipping them since Rutherford told Badgey, “I was just trying to impress Tendi. I mean, look at her, she’s so cute!” Earlier that same ep they’re in the holodeck in the EV suits and they accidentally embrace (due to mag boots) which mirrors the B’Elanna and Tom scene where B’Elanna told Tom she loved him.

But if you really think about it, they’ve been hinting at the crush since the beginning. He was willing to change his career to make the time to watch a pulsar with her (which was episode 2). When Tendi thought T’ana was transferring her off the ship, they tell each other how much they love the ship and hug. Later that ep he tells Billups he’s been triple backing up memories with her because he doesn’t want to forget her again. (Notably he doesn’t mention backing up memories with Mariner or Boimler.) They’ve always just a little closer than best friends, and damned if it isn’t adorable!
