  • He wants to send his daughters to school in a place where they’re not only being valued for their wombs. Where they’re looked at as being equal contributors to their field of study. Where they’re provided opportunities the same as every other scholar there, and not assumed to be in college to find a husband.

And, yes, there is a bit of “if they get into trouble will they have options?” At play I’m sure as well.

    Quit being obtuse.

  • I’m white af, but, as an American, I didn’t get treated as rudely anywhere else in Germany than Berlin. Still had a great time overall in the city, but, not really in a rush to go back.

My friend and I were standing at a bar mulling over the menu, just kind of murming to one another over what drinks we wanted while we were waiting for the bartender to finish up with his other customers. It wasn’t busy, but he was attending to other people. When he was finally done, he approached us and I said “Hi how are you?” with a smile. He didn’t say a single word to us, just took the menus from in front of us and put them on the back shelf, and then turned away.

So we left. Our money clearly wasn’t good enough there, and we spent it in another bar across the alleyway instead.

  • I have such a weird take on this, due to being in the military for so long. We absolutely do refer to one another as “males” and “females”.

Ie. “There was a female SSgt that was really helpful in customer service” or “I had to remind a male Soldier to put on his cover when he left the building” or “I had a female troop once”.

However, I try really hard when I’m speaking to a non-military member to switch up my phrasing. Sometimes I still slip up, and I gotta be like “shit, sorry, I mean that woman cashier over there” or whatever it is that I’m talking about.

I will say though, I do distinctly remember having that conversation during basic training, and fucking hating being referred to as “female” in the beginning, and that thought being shared amongst my flightmates. I can still hear the TIs shouting from across the parking lot: “GET OVER HERE RIGHT NOW, FE-MALE!” Ugh.

It was just 16 years ago now, so “female” has become normalized.

  • Yup, just started it! I spent a few days wandering around doing side missions, so by the time I got to this point and the title screen popped up, I was so fucking confused.

I initially thought I had failed the whole mission and had to start the game completely over 😂

  • Sneaking into a hotel room to steal cutting edge military tech with a terrorist conscious locked inside of it from the rebellious son of a CEO who had already stolen it from his own father’s company to sell to his fathers competitors…

…also I was wrongfully accused of the resulting patricide when the CEO confronted his son regarding the stolen tech.
