  • I don’t particularly think his supporters matter, as they are mostly sheep and not one of the main facisim roots.

It’s the fact that more than half of America’s entire media apparatus is entirely behind Trump.

They dominate airwaves and have entire control over several local information ecosystems allowing them to brainwash entire populations with wall-to-wall propaganda that is completely aligned in its message of refuting and obfuscation of reality.

Regardless if the people are racist, scared, simple minded, trained to blindly accept specific authority or whatever, is mostly irrelevant in a society with journalistic integrity, and a non-corporate/private interest owned media.

It’s no surprise that some people believe outrageous, impossible, contradictory, claims when every reality authority available to you exclusively tells you coordinated lies.

  • I’ve always done protein powder first, then add liquid and doing it the other way around sounds like blasphemy.

    Never get any clumps either!

Dry powder on top of a liquid is pure insanity, next you’ll tell me you add milk to a bowl of cereal before the cereal

But from there, there is actually much debate about which order of combining is best. Some say that adding dry into wet leads to clumps of dry ingredients floating in the batter, while others say that actually the opposite, adding wet to dry, leads to, well, clumps.

It would appear that the jury is still out, and everyone despises clumps. But one thing is definitely true: It’s much harder to successfully add dry ingredients into wet ingredients neatly. That order tends to lead to a giant puff of flour wafting toward the ceiling, and settling all over the counters, while a steady, viscous stream of wet ingredients will instead narrowly ribbon its way down into the bowl containing dry ingredients, and nowhere else.

  • Less chat bots on Lemmy, and they seem to be easily identifiable and ignored/reported.

Lemmy isn’t quite at that sweet spot where there are enough daily users to get niche content and information from a group of knowledgeable people - but some communities seem to be quite active and helpful already.

I’d love to get to the point where we have a big science/history community and get some non-celebrity AMA’s that have genuine interaction.

I’m more than happy for Lemmy to stay “underground” for a good while, slowly building communities. Once things hit a critical mass and wind up on corporate radar, lemmy will get swarmed and another migration will happen with the same core groups that joined lemmy early.

Honestly, there’s plenty of reasons to make fun of boomers/millennial/genZ but the reality is each generation has Republican and Democrat voters.

I’m not gonna suggest that Democrats always have the best interests of working class people in mind - but their camp does contain progressives, which is something that Republicans lack entirely.

At the end of the day, all our problems can be traced to income inequality that is largely pushed by Republicans (and a huge dose of “trusted media” espousing outright lies).

You can absolutely have a business oriented economy whose government protects it’s people from abusive and predatory businesses practices while providing great education and healthcare for free.

It’s something we’d all benefit from (even the wealthy, but it’d be less profitable) but something we’ll never have because every generation has Republican voters who show up 100% of the time - and Democrat voters who barely show up, can’t agree on anything, and require emotional inspiration to even begin to participate in politics.

In fact, now that we’re literally watching Nazis take over the Republican party - anyone from any generation who votes Republican now is far worse than anyone who voted R in the past before the middle class was destroyed.

The Republican party is evolving into its final form of purest facisim, something that was plausibly deniable 10 years ago.

Bottom line is we’re at a point in society where feelings and opinions are the only reality for a lot of people. It will be the death of democracy, and they’ll go to their graves in chains they put on themselves believing they made the right choice, because why would anyone ever choose to feel regret or acknowledge the consequences of their own actions?

  • I’m happy I found this show when I was 17, heard about it through an acquaintance, and found the English subs on Kazaa.

Perfect show at the perfect time of my life, definitely has a massive nostalgia factor and helped me work through some stuff.

If I were to see it for the first time today, 20 years later, I’m not sure it would have the same impact.

While it may not be for everyone, Evangelion is the standalone best anime for me and I rewatch it often.

  • Yeah, but there are non mosquito things that fill that role as well, so it’s not unique to mosquitoes.

Also, the existence of mosquitos may be preventing another non-mosquito insect from filling its space in the ecosystem.

So not only are the “benefits” of mosquitoes redundant, they add far more negative than positive.

Mosquitoes suck, but aren’t entirely without value - that being said their only value isn’t unique to mosquitoes which negates nearly all of their value. But they’re still more valuable than Karen’s so it continues to be a losing argument

  • Even if you have been greatly wronged by everyone you trust, that doesn’t necessarily mean you were ever even around trustworthy people. So personal experience may feel like the only reality or truth but once you realize that it’s only true specifically for you and only up to this point, you might be able to understand its not a universal rule or experience.

There’s so much to experience beyond pain, loneliness, distrust and suffering (outside of incurable medical pain)

It does exist and it is available to you, but when anyone has their trust destroyed beyond repair multiple times it will take work to let the pain go and look inward and forward to get what you want out of life.

For all I know, you’re the asshole in everyone else’s life and you blame them for breaking your trust - or you are a complete victim who has been taken advantage of every step of the way and it’s impossible to conceive of a person existing who isn’t working every angle to take advantage of you.

You do have agency and you can control how you think and feel about most things. It sounds like you are convinced that life only exists in a single, permanent, unchangeable state - and if you don’t attempt any change in this perspective it will become a self fulfilling prophecy.

But once you realize the control you can exert over these thoughts and perspectives you’ll hopefully realize that despite other people, when you’re an adult life is what you make of it, not what it makes of you.

It does take monumental, constant effort. Especially compared to how easy it is to give up/admit defeat/believe things are permanent and unchangeable. Doubly so if that’s the mental state you’re already in.

Therapy can give you the tools to climb the mountain, but it’s not gonna move your arms and legs up the mountain for you.
