OLED is a massive upgrade. Each pixel is its own backlight instead of having an array of leds. So you get actual black, because there is no light there. The contrast and color is amazing.

But OLED is the new plasma. They don’t have burn in anymore, but if you don’t have it in a very dark room, the glare will make you go insane.

When I am comparing branches or working on multiple tickets at a time, separating each instance of my IDEs, as well as Jira tickets and Confluence documents related to the specific projects into their own little sandbox. LCD panels actually use a thin film of silicon (I think it’s silicon) over each pixel. And cheap panels using TN technology often have this issue and very poor viewing angles.

Phishing is a huge problem. Over 80% of companies experience phishing attacks yearly. 40% of all US data breaches are a direct result of phishing. This means the data you have provided these companies (sometimes whether you want to or not). Almost every healthcare provider has been phished in the last 3 years. I have no idea what you’re talking about with giving up my data. Passkeys don’t give up any day. Passwords are easily guessed and stolen. It’s even easier since the requirements on websites make it easier to predict. I do care about technologically uninformed people. They work at the companies that have my data. I’d like to know where you came to the conclusion that something you know is better than something you have. Passkeys are way less likely to be phished, nearly impossible. The only thing stored externally is a public key. Those are useless without the private key on your device. FIDO2 is an open standard (like html and SQL) and there are open source servers.

If a website has a data breach, they can’t log into your account because they don’t have your private key. Security professionals recommend a combination of something you know, something you have, and something you are.

Passkeys are not stored on some third party website, they are physically in your possession. Passkeys do not need to be biometric. I have a physical usb passkey. Apple already has your face or fingerprint if you use biometric login anyway if you’re worried about using a phone as a passkey. I’m not sure where the claim that they are singularly protected by large corporations.

Passwords are also inherently insecure by nature. In so many ways. That’s why MFA exists in the first place.

The fact is that insurance companies are publicly traded companies. Publicly traded companies have an obligation to shareholders to maximize profit. Maximizing profit isn’t something we want for something as necessary as our health. An individuals health is not a commodity. I’m not saying they are evil personally, but I do think the system is designed to benefit the companies and not the people. Which is not how democracy should work.

I own a gun. I have nothing against guns. I enjoy target shooting. Gun control isn’t about taking away guns. It’s about controlling who gets guns based on how likely a gun in their hands is to cause a bunch of people to die. Even one person dying is not okay. So I think more stringent requirements for who can own a gun are reasonable.

To be fair it’s not just children. There are plenty of mass shootings at concerts, movie premiers, random gas stations. It’s just that the us has 288 school shootings from 2009-2018. The next highest would be Mexico. At 8 in the same time frame.

So it’s not so much “think of the children” as it is “hey guys, so many people get shot, and it’s worse in America than anywhere else. What can we do to make it not so bad? Maybe make it harder for idiots or unstable folk to get guns? And since most people who advocate for less gun CONTROL (not banning, just controlling who can go get an AR-15 off the shelf) tend to be the same folk saying “but we can’t let LGBTQ people exist! Think of the children!” But then children get shot at school and the cops are like “I’m not going in there. I’ll get shot!” Or “yeah you have to give birth because “think of the baby!” But the moment that child is born we don’t give a fuck about them. Let’s slash welfare because poor people don’t WANT to work!” But also those children we were thinking of? Let’s slash their welfare too. Damn poor babies. I bet their parents are drug addicts!

Nobody arguing against gun rights use “because of the children” as their main argument. The US does have way too many school shootings though, and we should probably address that somehow.

2 days. My coworker had been at an event and we had a meeting on a Wednesday. He discovered he had covid and called off Thursday, informing us. That Friday I felt the symptoms.

I went to the store since I didn’t want to wait until October. I got a 15 pro in black with the base storage. I had a 12 mini previously. I’m still getting used to the size but I’m liking the phone so far.

Yeah I really liked Memmy. The lack of updates wouldn’t bother me except there are a couple annoying bugs still. Also when I click on a community it opens in my browser. I’ve tested a bunch to find one that has everything I want. I’ve also settled on Avelon. The only thing it doesn’t have is multiple icon options and that’s not an important factor at all.
