Huh, I never knew there was a mobile version of the site.
New account since lemmyrs.org went down, other @Deebster

When Khan Academy was a big thing, there was talk of flipping teaching - having the homework be watching instructional videos (when you can pause, rewind and rewatch without embarrassment) and doing homework in school hours. It sounded quite good (at least for motivated kids (wasn’t me)), but I guess it died on the vine.
DIY store Waitrose
I don’t get this joke - why is this (decidedly non-budget) supermarket a DIY store?
banging the feeder with their hands
Where I’m from, cats have paws. (Also, I opt out of AI images showing human-handed cats, don’t you dare)
I know how federation works, but look at the network inspector and you’ll see you’re pulling a lot of images from Cloudflare-proxied sites (or you’re missing a lot, if you’ve blacklisted them).
Anyway, I only meant that even Lemmy, with its anti-corporate culture, is still heavily using Cloudflare. “Only” 22% is still a lot in my book.
I’m interested as to your motives - are you doing this as a boycott, and/or to protect your privacy (or similar)? Also, are you blocking domains one-by-one, or are doing something like using firewall rules?
If you’re blocking everything that’s proxied via Cloudflare or hosted on Google, the internet must be a very small place for you. I think even a third of Lemmy is behind Cloudflare.

Ah, so nothing to do with incels harassing women. Do incels have a queen?
I watched that one last night and had the same thought - she’s been the face of nonacceptance towards Data and although Bruce Maddox is far more extreme in his views it seemed like a waste of her character building.
That said, they’d already shoehorned in a Guinan scene so I don’t know where they’d find the time.
CNLabelContactRelationYoungerCousinMothersSiblingsSonOrFathersSistersSon
The label for the contact’s mother’s sibling’s younger son or father’s sister’s younger son.
I thought it was just a male cousin, but it doesn’t include a cousin who’s your uncle’s son. Which culture needs this?

There isn’t any more, btw, it’s from their “News in Photos” section.
Sorry, I was just joking; it’s clearly a typo and I don’t think anyone misunderstood (or maybe even noticed).
unvaluable
You’ve edited this post and left this in (or added it!?) so I suppose you mean it!
Morocco being “al-Maghrib” is suprising to me, since I know al-Maghrib as the Maghreb region, aka the part of north Africa that speaks Maghreb Arabic (al-Maġrib al-ʿArabī).
Wikipedia says it’s المملكة المغربية which is “al-Mamlakah al-Maghribiyah” but I don’t know if the map’s version is an acceptable shorthand.
The problem with stats like these are that Firefox users (and the browser’s defaults) block a lot of the scripts and images used for tracking.
Cloudflare’s stats show higher Firefox usage (4.737% for 2023 Q3), although that’s still less than even Edge. My own logs show more still, although my visitors are more technical than usual.
“is in good health”? I was looking for autocorrect typos but can’t figure out anything likely, unless they’re not using querty.
Then the next article:
Local anime fan Tyler Jenkins has recently found himself in a cultural conundrum: wondering how accurately he can sing his favorite anime theme songs without crossing the line into unintentional racism, sources close to the karaoke machine reported.
“sources close to the karaoke machine” - just brilliant.

I missed the “90 weeks” bit - you made it sound like it was coming soon, you cheeky scamp.
Windows 10 will reach end of support on October 14, 2025. The current version, 22H2, will be the final version of Windows 10, and all editions will remain in support with monthly security update releases through that date.
It’s a very different kind of beast, but I’m very much enjoying it so far. Linking things is definitely Joplin’s weak point whereas this is a core strength for logseq.
I often used bullet points in my Joplin notes, so having that as the default works for me too. However, since Op has said they want plain text notes Obsidian seems like a better fit (although logseq does save pages as text it’s not what it feels like in use).
Brilliant.
