As a European myself, I’m happy to see plans to produce chips locally and become more independent in that regard. Of course it would be even better if there was a local company running things, but without tens of billions of investment capital that seems impossible at this point.

I’ve been using Ecosia for the past few years. It is a nice idea that my searches can contribute to something good, namely the planting of trees. Of course it is still Bing in the background, but it at least hides most of the data from uncle Microsoft.
That being said, I do find myself using Google if Ecosia does not produce the desired results. It works fine for 95% of searches, but is just not quite there when it comes to very technical queries.
The sad thing is, the official Reddit app was not too bad at the beginning. I even used it when it just came out. But in the last few years, every change that they implemented seems to have been a negative one. The ads were annoying, but the tiktok-style video viewer was the last straw for me.
Did my part by creating an instance. For now it seems like it’s just me, though. Can’t say I’m surprised, though. Why go for some random instance run by a random dude when there’s big reputable ones out there?
