  • I suspect the UK was only a little behind America’s trend towards using cars. But like the other guy says, walking is discouraged by US planning and one hundred year old car-maker propaganda and lack of transport, whereas England is smaller with older roads in many places that resist the American style city planning somewhat with malls, car parks and shit - they’re protected.

    Though recently some industrious developers have been on a spree of burning down historic buildings for profit…
