My ultimate gaming achievement was beating Pulstar on one quarter in the arcade (although it wasn’t really fair, I had a neogeo cabinet at home with Pulstar and I played it for hours everyday for weeks). Still, this is an accomplishment that no one I know has matched

It’s worth pointing out the cracks in a service everyone uses - some of those cracks have been there for a long time and Amazon has been doing a poor job combating it - if they even are. Amazon seems to make knockoffs themselves of best selling items, but that’s another topic.
To your point though, depends what you buy - when I was looking for really good headphones a few years ago, there were warnings on review sites about ordering Sony brand headphones and getting fakes. Apparently there were also sites dedicated to help identify fake headphones bought from Amazon (Sony MDR-7506). One would be correct to say counterfeits were around since before Amazon, but you wouldn’t expect to get a counterfeit if you pay full price from a brand name store - which is the new problem.
Also buying SD cards, specialized batteries, etc has been a big problem on Amazon for years, and Amazon doesn’t seem able to really address it (inb4 someone says they have made it worse)

Years ago, I setup an SGI IRIX box for my parents to use, back when Netscape was browser king. I had it so customized for my parents that they still talk about how easy it was to use; problem for me was it took me months to figure out all the config tricks and X customizations to pull it off… Your post made me think of that lol
You are completely right, but I wonder how self aware Linus is. I haven’t been watching his channel closely, but I’ve binged on episodes in the past. I was not aware of his anti-labor views or how he had his employees working on his house - these are things that a non-self aware person does; someone who doesn’t understand the optics are bad to the “commoner” who feels they are being taken advantage by business owners. This is an easy question to answer. Look at Henry Ford and look at Bezos and his type (oh for example Walmart, etc). It used to really boggle my mind too (I met a young earth creationist for the first time in my life, he was a network engineer), but then I realized a lot of people just look at techy type jobs purely to make money, not because they are science and tech nerds.
Many people go towards software engineer/computer science type stuff because that’s where the money is. And honestly there is not much there that really would change someones ideology - nothing about sorting algorithms, processor opcodes, schedulers, etc etc really challenges someone’s views - just tools to learn to make that paycheck. So a young earther learns what a packet is and how it gets routed from point a to point b - what exactly would challenge his view that the bible is literal in any of that? Those kinds of people don’t really have any curiosity about the world and are not looking for any answers

Even at 5 to 7 ( and to teenage years) there are stretching exercises that can be done to loosen the foreskin and completely make the surgery unnecessary (and yes there are rare cases where that doesn’t help and surgery is the last resort).
