Do you have a server, connection and domain available?
If yes, a simple Joomla setup with a single static page should work well.
Reporting is done by users who voluntarily upload their system specs via
# hw-probe -all -upload
So not skewed at all…
Considering it’s basically just a script “frontend”: wireguard and its documentation.
Docker behind a Traefik proxy with crowdsec checking (adds additional lag). Ryzen 2700x 32GB local machine. All storage on SSD.
The web interface is very usable, switching subpages takes maybe half a second max without it being cached by the browser.
Could of course be quicker (as basically everything ever), but as we mostly use it with the Windows sync clients and Android apps we never really have any issues.

There is. A cable. You just need two non-identical IPs from the same subnet, e.g. 10.0.0.1 and 10.0.0.2 or whichever you want from the private ranges.
But you’re right, it’s overkill.
I wouldn’t say that. Sure, it’s not the preferred way of restarting a system, but it is a good backup to have if nothing else works. Remotely messing up the network connections for example.
I simply cannot see how using a non-locally running and basically contained AI would work with the secrecy requirements in the (wider) engineering fields. There would certainly be situations where it could help, e.g. the mentioned translation work. Sure, you’d still need an actual human to check what the AI produced, but I can see time savings in those areas.
Many programs used in those fields already use algorithms, rule and filter sets in the daily workflow, so maybe that could be further improved. But overall? No, very unlikely to work.

Have dabbled with LMDE on several 2-4 years old Dell XPS models, which are basically the same hardware as in the Precision models.
What I tested all worked fine, including automated BIOS updates through LMDE itself.
It would depend on the actual laptop in question though, as those lines come in a wild variety of possible hardware options.
I run a mixed setup, many of the “less important” containers are on watchtower auto-update, the rest on notification (reverse proxy, Nextcloud, etc).
But I also have many of them on specific branches instead of “latest”.
