If it helps, 80% of the work i do when wearing my sysadmin hat is just ensuring that all of our systems are communicating properly.

I did like one semester of computer science, does that count?
Honestly I just google shit until I understand it. Linux has great documention, and where it fails you can just read the source code.
No, much like the ‘trial by ordeal’, in more religious times it was believed that god(s) would grant favour to those who were truly righteous and/or innocent, allowing them to survive an ordeal or win a fight.
It was effectively a verdict rendered by god, rather than the courts.
Is your game completely offline, or does it have automatic updates pushed via steam or similar? If a background game update changed an api call or two in the way it handles graphics, its possible that your current graphics drivers dont support the new implementation.
An ideal system would do a version check for what is installed on your system and recommend a gfx driver update before pulling down such a game update, but our world is far from ideal.
There is a recent New Zealand Today episode that interviews him. IIRC, he was involved in a number of low level scams at the time, and was arrested while dining on a stolen credit card. Man was just a natural showman, who wasnt going to go down quietly.
Care to elaborate? Every cloud “solution” I’ve been pitched is just a super expensive way to bottleck everything at the router.
Literally billions of people are. Do you think meat just spontaneously appears in the supermarket?
Quite the opposite. Cannibalism(assuming you obtain consent) would be ethical meat consumption.
Can you provide an example of this? Only time I’ve encountered that behaviour was with a laptop that had a defective lid-switch.
Now look at an x-ray of an abdomen with a metallic object in it. Seems pretty plausible thata person could look at an x-ray containing a bunch of metal and approximate how much of it there is.
Raid 0 offers no redundancy though. If any of those three disks fail, you lose the entire volume.
For the sake of backups, switching to Raid 5 would be more robust
smartmontools has some good functionality for interfacing with SMART via usb bridges that do not provide native functionality.
Fair. No arduino kits though?
If you’re going to the expense of putting a camera on it, why not take it a little further and slap together an arduino-based sensor suite with some logging? See if you can find any correlations in temp/humidity/gas conc that might help with diagnosis.
Its not the direct tax, it’s the often counterproductive limits around welfare that many people receive alongside employment income. Welfare cliffs.
To give NZ as an example, a person can earn up to 37k and be eligible for a “community services card” which entitles them to discounts on a lot of things such as doctors fees, public transit and dental care. Earn just a dollar over thay threshold though, and you lose all the benefits, having to pay them out of pocket. Which means for someone on the cusp of eligibility, theyre often better off to turn down small pay raises.
The student allowance is similar but less punitive in that you are allowed to earn 270 per week without affecting your allowance, but after that, your allowance is reduced dollar for dollar up to the 360 per week of your allowance. A student working minimum wage would therefore need to get a 30 per hour payrise before their total income actually changed.
1.2l water
240ml sodium sulfate
60ml sodium chloride
20ml xantham gum(optional for increased efficacy by keeping the solution homogenous)
Boil water, stir until fully dissolved, a small amount of solute should remain, if not, increase sodium sulfate concentration slowly until it does, indicating no free water molecules available for dissolution.
Solution should now be cooled to below 18c( freezing point) for an end product that will regulate temperature to 18c so long as it have sufficient(negative) thermal energy.
Solution of pure sodium chloride will have freezing point approx -20C, while solution of pure sodium sulfate has freezing point +35C. Adjusting the ratio of NaCl to Na2SO4 will shift the freezing point towards either end of thag spectrum, depending on what phase change temperature you are targetting.
I often stumble across jobs in Antarctica listed in my region. It’s right there in the headline, so its easy to skip over them, but i have to wonder, how else would you advertise for jobs in remote locations where most people wouldn’t even think to look?
90% of listings on aliexpress or amazon are made by dropshippers who don’t actually have any knowledge of the products they’re selling. They scrape the datasets for all of the manufacturers they source from, autopopulate any required fields and blast out a thousand listings. I’d wager the majority aren’t even human reviewed, let alone human written.
I agree with you somewhat, but I think in the case of body parts, which require the death of a person to procure, the risk of encouraging such bad actors is significant enough that we ought not to enable any market at all except where lives may be saved by their procurement.
