It does cost but you also get a permanent licence for the version you paid for so you can pay for a year and keep that version.

Actually I may have misread the thread but the voice actress behind the new femhroth character is trans IRL (Sena Bryer)

FFXIV just added one (with a voice actress that is trans IRL) that’ll be in the next expansion :3
