“Break the loop and you break the chains.”
Nobody actually said that to my knowledge but putting quotes around it lends some legitimacy.
Not just any tick, but THE Tick. Spoon, motherfuckers…
I posted somewhere about how that didn’t happen to me even once last Christmas :/
Bad analogy, it would be like meeting up with all your ex-girlfriend’s other former partners and all bitching about that shared ex because you have that thing in common.
We’re all deciding what to do with you right now. Tyrael has the deciding vote.
Everything is an opportunity cost. That is, if you’re engaging in YouTube you are missing out on something else. It’s fine if that’s the choice you want to make, but understand that you’re “missing out” on hanging out with friends or reading or video games or calling a family member.
The doomscroll is all there is. The good news about that is that anyone can emulate it.
What got replaced already was the oligopoly on user-created content. That’s all that matters.
It doesn’t need to replace anything, that’s a sports mentality applied to the free flow of information. What this decade has taught us is that the doomscroll is all there is. Reddit, Tiktok, Twitter, etc. all have constant scrolling through content as their main feature. It’s a feature that’s extremely reproducible. What the fediverse does is take power away from the corporations that want to make money off of the flow of user-created content. By the fediverse’s existence, whenever some company wants to rate-limit or ban 3rd party apps, the people can now just say: “Nah.”
This is like asking someone to check in on your ex, sure it sounds like a good idea, but…
I’ve deleted 2 Reddit accounts now, most recent on July 1st in protest. Not going back this time, but for the people who feel like they lost something, I have some advice. Go to your own comments and sort by top. Read through the stuff you’ve said over the years that got the most positive feedback. Take it all in, and then let it go.
Let’s not be so quick to rush to judgment there, eh?
I used this site when migrating https://sub.rehab/
Shows where old Reddit subs relocated to or branched out to.
Exactly. They’re not arguing that it’s unconstitutional, they’re arguing that Congress can’t do that…lol. The SCOTUS put themselves in charge of Congress.
Congress gave the Secretary of Education broad authority over student loans in national emergencies with the HEROES act. COVID was declared a national emergency. The Supreme Court basically said they can’t do that even though that’s exactly what they wanted to do. It’s pretty plain bullshit. It’s why the dissenting opinion didn’t just disagree. accused the court of grossly overstepping its authority.
Don’t forget to bring a towel!
