No matter how old I get I still love PB&J.
A broken man, obsessed with 500 year old Mexican culture.
No matter how old I get I still love PB&J.
This is a respectable pursuit.
I’m using the Boost app for Lemmy which has a one time fee to disable all ads. If you’re sticking around it may be worth the investment if you’re avoiding temptation. Stay sober my dude.
Do you guys even eat peanut butter sandwiches?
I have no idea what you’re talking about.
Greatest city on earth.
Right before last summer I bought my good friend an air purifier for his birthday. My other friends made some light ribbing at my expense for being such a boring gift. The wild fires in Canada made the Philadelphia horizon hellish for about a week.
My good friend bought two more purifiers after that.
Have you studied prohibition in the USA? People don’t stop partaking in vices that are consumable when they become illegal, they just turn to illegal means to obtain them. Prohibition in the 20’s led to the rise of organized crime, drugs won the war on drugs, and in countries where alcohol is banned it just means the rich can partake while the poor go to jail.
Also humans are more than their immediate biological bodies. They are part of communities and cultures that may have deep ties to alcoholic beverages as part of their heritage. British pubs, Christian wine, Mexican pulque, Mongolian Airag, and numerous other examples are essential for cultural and community cohesiveness going back for miilinia. It is ethnocentric of you to dismiss their needs and identity for your convenience.
I say all of this as a son of a junkie. I’ve witnessed first hand the destruction of personal prosperity and the husking of the human soul that comes from imbibing narcotics. I also wish I could put the evils of decadence back in Pandora’s Box, unfortunately it was opened way before civilization existed.
Magritte’s work is fantastic.
Oh, the murderer.
I would suggest studying a bit more on the history of African Americans in the USA. While this was tragic and unjustified it was a more recent symptom of hundreds of years of systemic violence against people of color than a tipping point that changed everything. This horrible bloody path America has been walking down for generations and Mr. Floyd’s murder was a fresh footprint.
OP my only argument is that your focus is too narrow. The circumstances that led to Mr. Floyd’s murder did not come out of nowhere.
The state I grew up in would create postcards after lynches a few decades ago. That’s the America I know.
Ok, I don’t know who this is.
Yo, I moved to Philly from growing up in Houston and I have not used my car in two years. Being able to walk or take the SEPTA train to my choice of bar/pub completely changed my life.
I ain’t ever gonna want to leave.
Go Birds.
Cold turkey. You make the time to quit “now” and not a later that never comes. It worked for cigarettes and fast food. From that point you live with yourself.
Warning though for my advice. I care little for my own happiness, quiting those were not a pleasant experience. I did not strengthen my resolve to overcome weaknesses, in bouts of depression I discarded things that made me happy for my health.

Man I like Marcus Aurelis and loved reading Meditations, but even I think this is weird.
I’m not personally a fan anymore, but I’m not really a fan of television or movies at this point in my life. I used to watch a lot of NG and DS9 back in the day.
I do realize that Lemmy does run on Star Trek memes and its absence would be like removing the coal out of a steam engine.
To answer your question they’re not for me, but I do respect the impact ST memes are having.
Not everyone is here for debate and proselytizing. You want to have debates then go scream at people in the streets with your face visible and within arms length of whomever you’re offending. I’m here for fine art, painted miniatures, and owl pictures. Those are procured with civility not dumpster fire opinions.
It’s been my personal (and embarrassing) experience that the quote attributed to Abe Lincoln, “Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt” is usually best policy.
