It starts early in the design process. But at that stage, it would be best to pause installation, have a mechanical engineer do the mechanical design (including equipment selection) based on an energy model and install the recommended equipment.

I work in building science. It’s obscene how little actual design and quality control goes into residential homes.
The typical design is just one step above being illegal, and people are often scared off of doing anything more than that by the threat of increased cost. However, they don’t realize that they pay for it either way; either on their mortgage, or on utilities. Only one of those you can actually own in the end.
Sorry, four of the power to ethernet plugs. You put one near your router to essentially supply internet to your house’s electrical circuits, then distribute the others where you need them, such as office, living room if you want to connect a TV or console, etc.
I had a set of four for getting ethernet around the few places I rented. There was maybe the odd quality decrease when there was a lot of electrical load, but they worked great otherwise.
Yeah, I use a hop spider and whirlfloc with the whirlpool arm to limit the solids transferred and it works quite well.
You should be able to get a bit more volume if you transfer using the pump instead of the spigot. Not a whole lot but makes a difference on the lower volume brews. You can even tilt it a bit toward the pump inlet to get the last little bit out.
“Our Computer”
Oh man, I remember a Philips mp3 player I had for the longest time as a kid. You could hear the little clicks of the hard drive. Lost it on a hike, unfortunately.
It seems owenfromcanada has ding dong dashed you.
Perhaps they’ll make a sequel, A Slightly Longer Hike.
Toss Linux Mint on a bootable USB, fire up a live version and play around a bit. I was in the same boat and am working on fully transitioning over. The only minor hurdles are Office 365 and other Windows-only programs, but there are ways to get those to work, or just run a Windows VM.
How about we just settle this over a game of battlebots and no one else needs to get hurt.
I use Docker LXCs. Really just a Debian LXC with Docker and then Portainer as a UI. I have separate LXCs for common services. Arrs on one LXC, Nextcloud, Immich and SearXNG on another, Invidious on a third. I just separate them so I don’t need to kill all services if I need to restart or take down the LXC for whatever reason.
For ease of setup and use, I’ve found Twingate to be great for outside access to my network.
Yes, it’s a lot of words, but there’s really nothing to keep track of after setup. I just go to my invidious ip rather than youtube.com and it works. There are very good tutorials available if you want to implement these solutions. That’d be a good first step rather than the ‘I’ve tried nothing and am all out of ideas’ approach.
In hosting invidious or what? I’ve got it running pretty maintenance free in a docker LXC in Proxmox and use Twingate for access to it and everything else outside my home network. There was a learning curve to set up, but there’s plenty of yt tutorials to guide you through.
In this case, the someone else is Alphabet megacorp. I wouldn’t waste any concern on them. The content is still hosted by YouTube, just played through the invidious instance.
To do away with all those concerns, you could self-host invidious, or donate to the instance you choose to use if self-hosting is outside of your technical prowess. If you want to support certain creators, donate to them directly instead.
Thanks for the recommendation. I’ll look into transitioning to Aegis. Regarding backups, you are able to have another device in case you lose your phone (I also have Authy on my laptop in case that does happen), but the data breach you mentioned said that may have been a weak point. Either way, I’m going to explore Aegis now.
A mall that’s only random clothes, shoes, and jewellery stores surrounded by an ocean of parking lot is very unattractive.
As you say, a mall with actually useful stores, like grocery, pharmacy, perhaps a restaurant or two (not chain fast food), etc, with residential units on top or very close to constitutes more of a community than a mall and is very likely to be sustainable versus the former.
