You managed to understand Stellaris?
You managed to understand Stellaris?
So I typed out a long reply with helpful tips and everything but Lemmy broke and I couldn’t send that, and I really can’t be arsed again, this is already too much effort.
Massage/Wellness: your posture sucks and your back hurts all the time because you have a flabby gut and no ass. Get to exercising.
The iPod was throwing me until they blew me away by actually making it so I have to spin my finger on the pad. If I hadn’t been on mobile idk if I ever would’ve got past thinking “Did he fucking feature with someone? I don’t fucking listen to Sufjan Stevens…”
Low tip for takeout. Usually 10ish%. I’m also a high tipper at restaurants in general, food service in particular is shit work where you’re treated badly and paid garbage. “It’s not my responsibility to pay their employees” always sounded cheap to me. Either you can’t afford it or you’re cheap, if you claim to have any sympathy for minimum wage employees, you tip well. If you don’t like tipping (because you’re cheap or can’t afford it, neither of which is wrong), you push for legal change and don’t punish the fellow worker in front of you.
Genuinely tho, can someone tell me how? Anime character have ageless faces as the standard, even anime parodies make fun of this.
If someone drew my partner, who is a very well proportioned 5ft nada, with a generic anime style, the ageless result would look like the image in the OP. The image even has an hourglass figure. Where does the “child” idea come from?
Usually by using the most generous estimates that come from looking at the statistical differences between stats like actual reports and results from anonymous studies, that’s just 2 examples, I’m sure staticians use way more data, and then turn that into “for every reported x, there’s y unreported” then you just apply the pre-algebra and compare the adjusted number to which ever stat for women (the unfair answer here is then not adjusting for unreported in women, which would probably be a lower number than men but still)
Huh, you talking about it made me realize I do this! I have a very, very short tongue, so maybe that adds to it? Do you happen to be able to rumble your ears?
Thanks for outlining the 100 other steps I mentioned as what should take priority over tearing down charter schools that are often the only option for kids who live in bumfuck nowhere. Oh wait no, they could get driven an hour out of the way to the public school instead by parents who definitely have that time (fat fucking /S).
I’m not arguing against bettering public schools. I’m arguing that we have many other focuses over the many very good public charters. We should aim to match them with public schools. I also see the difference in curriculum as a failure of public schools that needs improvement and not a flaw of charter schools. Rather have a few critical thinkers getting the ball rolling on change than none at all while the public school system continues to crumble.
Side note: literally never seen a public charter that supports “conservative values”. They’re always private because they want to keep the “wrong people” out. Fuck all private schools.
I have a hard time with that argument against charter schools. If I’d been entirely reliant on the public school system rather than the amazing charter elementary school I went to, I probably would’ve failed on repeat. It gave me a chance to have a small class that saved me from my anxiety. To boot, the school has a focus on sustainability education, something you’d never see in public school that have to straddle a political line with their curriculum.
It’s a lovely dream to say “everything public :D” but it’s not realistic. We need to take 100 other steps around education and in the mean time charter schools should be pretty fuckin low priority.
Subscribed. Would regardless of my thoughts lol, seems like a genuinely good layout for a community.
Alright! You and me, we can have a nuanced discussion about the how to implement rent control or other means of combatting the housing crisis at a local level without a third person jumping on to talk about how this problem is bigger and we need to go right out to global revolution, which everyone jumps on and leaves the smaller scale discussion in the dust.
Of course I’m exaggerating a bit, but this is the general flow on Lemmy as I see it.
I’m really trying to see the point that it’s not about right or wrong it’s about DEPTH.
My discussion on smaller topics shouldn’t get taken over by bigger scale until it’s just useless, empty rhetoric.
I’m not talking about going “against group think” I just don’t want to be bombarded with replies about the global capitalism problem when I’m trying to talk about how to engage in local rent control or something else smaller than global revolution.
I don’t expect much, just that when I’m having a discussion about how to engage in grassroots efforts to fix smaller scale problems, I don’t have a third chime in with “global revolution now, only answer or shut up”
I like your point about a place of fear. I did an edit to clarify that I still think the Fediverse beats other social media and my complaint is a criticism coming from a place of love. It’s very hard to continue wanting to engage in low-level discussion around issue when I know someone is about to take it over with either some grand (in scale, not concept) statement about the issue, or abject defeatism.
Really just the half steps and the means to make progress towards a better system that works for the benefit of the majority, y’know, socialism. It’s a bottom up discussion that always gets taken over by the top-down people who can only ever talk about the whole shebang.
Maybe I’m late but I recommend Speak by Queensryche, it’s about revolution. The entire album Operation Mindcrime is a rail against religion and capitalism told through a character recruited into an underground revolution. It’s very good and a song that contains the lines “educate the masses” and “burn the Whitehouse down” gets a thumbs up from me
Sounds like somebody has some Jäger trauma
Not really that fragile, you (generalizing for most of Lemmy) just put excessive strain on it by sitting at a desk and using a computer.
The other big one is brachial impingement because you all slouch and your shoulders get so fucked up they pinch the nerve for 90% of your fuckin arm.
