Lemmy.world and lemmy.ml are still federated. You might have it confused with the defederation from hexbear and lemmygrad (both autocratic loving tankies, who are also extremely obnoxious).

Seems like a pretty objective open minded comment to me, I wonder what they replied to.
I looked up rule 1 if lemmy.ml: No bigotry - including racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, or xenophobia. Code of Conduct.
The code of conduct is that of Lemmy org, I never read it till now and I’m very disappointed by the next part: “Remarks that moderators find inappropriate, whether listed in the code of conduct or not, are also not allowed.”. Basically total mod discretion, so by extension, “rule 1” of lemmy.ml also boils down to total mod discretion.
According to the code of conduct, there’s also supposed to be first warnings, temporary bans and the chance for repeals according to the code of conduct. Which does sound nice, but I wonder if it’s also done in practice in some Lemmy communities. It seems pretty hard to provide a system for this that is not based on happenstance. Does anyone have experience with this?
This does not surprise me one bit from r worldnews. When I last used that sub (2021? Not sure actually), mod abuse was already rampant and correcting popular blatant misinformation, would get you voted down massively, even when you provided a solid source and explanation. A truly rotten sub. Animetitties (seriously) was a far better sub for following and discussing world news. At a certain point, there will have been no active mods with any integrity left in r worldnews and I suspect that that point was years ago. The whole reddit moderation system does seem fundamentally flawed, which was especially noticeable in the default subs.
I also really appreciate about Lemmy how there can be a 2 day old thread on everything and I throw in my 2 cents and even after 2 days, that comment gets read. It really beats the endless reposts (and bots reposting top comments!) of reddit.
I used a windows phone for a while and while the ui was good, it failed in some critical ways and because the people at MS had their heads to far up their bosses asses, there was never a fix.
4 things that were game breakers (iirc, it’s been a few years):
if you set the same alarm every day, then the alarm worked reliably. If you set a special recurring alarm for 1 day in the week (at the time I had to get up early every Friday), then that alarm would work once and then not anymore after that.
if someone send you an sms (or a number inside an sms), then it was not possible to add that number to contacts. You had to manually open contacts and type in the number.
the app store was forced localized and if you lived in a small market, you could only see reviews and review scores from that market. Not all apps where available either. With how few users windows phone had, there were no useful aggregated review scores available, only dodgy ones. Fortunately there was a user made app with which the global store could be opened, but as an out of the box experience, it sucked.
the app store was filled to the brim with the lowest quality shovelware in existence. I once went in to find if Firefox had an app and I found a shitload of apps called stuff like “install Firefox now”, each for a small amount of money. So I went to Google and found that there was no Firefox app yet and those were all scam apps. If the Microsoft CEO then goes on the news and proudly proclaims how many apps their appstore has, then you also now that they had no intention of ever fixing this shit and it was going to stay shit forever.
It’s a definite no from me. The color scheme and that floor, just no. The stove sticking out, also a definite no.
All the cupboards also seem abnormally shallow to me, as if large plates would not be able to fit in the hanging cupboards. But maybe my perspective is confused because of a larger stove than I’m used to.
For me, that entire kitchen would have to be replaced after buying. We don’t know what corners this house flipper cut though, I would not trust this place to be done well.
I thought that you were on to something and did a quick google search: the variation is apparently only 0.5%. And a variation that big is only found when comparing a measurement on the poles (heavier) vs the equator (lighter) and I think it unlikely that this pasta was made on Antarctica. So nope, it’s not the reason, they really do owe the op 2 grams of pasta.
So Amazon goes by the maxim of “rules for thee, but not for me”. I can’t say that I’m surprised :)

Microsoft Teams for business is pretty good as long as the call stays within the company. Go outside of that and you run into loads of problems thanks to Microsoft’s hubris. The problem really is Microsoft.
Zoom and Google meet just work in my experience.
I still use Foxit 9.72 on my pc (which I don’t have open ATM, so I can’t check to be certain I gave the right version). I have tried newer versions, but there always was some kind of enshittyfication change that annoyed me and I always reverted back to that last good version.
Basically this, it was after all exactly as described.
There’s really no need for that much effort to make a confusing perspective photo. Just take the photo from a lower point than usual (it makes things seem larger), with the light out of the right direction so that the shadows don’t spoil the illusion, with the long legs pointing towards the camera in saturated light so that the depth is not clear. Kinda exactly like was done here.
Definitely a perspective trick. The legs are that long to be able to say that the bear is 6.5 feet long. Buyers want to buy a giant teddy bear and instead they get a smaller bear than expected, but with super long legs. The manufacturer and seller knew what they were doing: purposefully misleading buyers.
Imo it’s going to be large companies and other software vendors that will determine whether or not Microsoft pushes through with this. And based on the software in use in my company, I think it’s likely going to go ahead: specialized software that was explicitly stating that windows 11 was not supported last year, now says that it is.
New pc’s also come with windows 11 and the users can work with them without major issues. This is unlike windows 8 were the manufacturers themselves returned to windows 7 after windows 8 had already been out some time.
I visit Lemmy with sync on my phone and tablet. On pc I still visit reddit. I actually haven’t visited anything of Lemmy on pc yet.
The content of Lemmy does feel lacking compared to what reddit used to offer me. And so does the content on reddit actually (feel lacking compared to what reddit used to offer me when I visited it with sync for reddit).
The home tab when logged into the reddit app is just weird, so many subs that I have no interest in seeing are being shown, while subs that I’m actually a member off are shoved down the list. The worst offender for me, was that reddit had decided for me that I should be interested in my countries’ fascist sub, just because I’m a member of the pluralist main sub. When I was using the reddit app for a few weeks, I would see racist dog whistle posts daily. So now I don’t login into reddit anymore, I just browse it anonymous now.
