You rarely stay very long in those companies nowadays. Unless you aim at becoming CEO in 20 years’ time. But otherwise, you just get your golden parachute after a couple of years of doing horrible shit.

GTK4 is planned for 2050 (expect 5-6 year delay).
They had to ask adobe if i recall correctly. Which does mean it isnt as easy as it sounds to reverse engineer (since adobe developed it, they obviously knew how to do it)
If you could get your hands on a few SAMs for me. I need to do some “right to defend myself” real quick.
“Hey israel, I need an excuse to start a war with Iran and no one is buying the nuke thing anymore, got an idea?”
“Sure, you got a ship?”
“Yeah, why?”
“Open a history book, I’ll get to work.”
I like to own my books and read them on my own time, not having to read them within a certain time limit. If I move, I also have to re-register and some libraries’ processes are a bureaucratic nightmare (yes, it’s a small thing to moan about but guess what, 1 click buy is still a lot easier).
It’s true. Counterpoint: if you move places a lot (let’s say if you happen to belong to a generation of people who will never be able to afford a place - which is a huge amount of people), your library needs to fit into a small tablet sized reader. Can store 5000 books, I do not have the means to move that amount of books every time my landlord decides to make my rent more unaffordable. An ereader fits in my pocket.
You shouldn’t trust them. Won’t elaborate further because the proton fanboys are extreme even by the lowest of reddit standards and arguing with them is pointless.
But no, don’t trust proton.
The people who have spent time telling is that Ukraine is fighting for its nation against an invader and how its good are having a real hard time reconciling with reality as evidenced by the amount of down votes.
If anything, this Hamas operation revealed you fucks’ true faces. It was never about “liberty of the people” “self governance” or “respect of territorial integrity”. It’s just that you’re bloodthirsty monsters desperate to have a side to pick and finding excuses for why you always align with the largest imperial power in the world.
Repetition of words in isolation (ie flashcards or what anki offers) does nothing whatsoever to teach you a language.
Duolingo is far from perfect but it certainly does more than basic flashcards (which are fine if you’re ok with just vocab). What people constantly miss about Duolingo is that it also offers lessons (to teach you how grammar works for example) but people have to read them and take the time to understand them. Which isn’t what they normally do because it takes time and it doesn’t give you xp (it’s not gamified so everybody ignores it).
It’s how school teaching works (no it doesn’t work great either but that’s because this part is only meant to teach you about the basic layer of language, not the rest).
So Duolingo and anki aren’t designed to do the same thing at all. But if you’re serious about learning a language, Duolingo is certainly a better start IF you do it right. A combination of the two is a better bet.
Duolingo open source? Doable but you need teachers to open source their lessons and vet them. Huge amount of time and probably costly which is where the cookie crumbles.
and it is based outside of the West and the 14 eyes
It is based in a country that’s an ally of several 14 eyes country and you can bet your bottom dollar that it isn’t a country that’s going to tell the Big eyes of the 14 eyes to go f itself if they come knocking.
Realistically, out of the very few people (in relative terms, of course) that use signaly, I highly doubt there was a huge number that relied on it for SMS. Or even knew about SMS. First, you have to rule out anyone who was using it on iOS (by this point, you probably have thousands of people left out of the entire pool - yes I’m kinda pullin that out of my ass but you get my point - which is nothing).
So killing SMS definitely wasn’t the make or break for Signal. Not even close to being likely.

They don’t. The guy who pushed for it was a troll who made an account specifically to make a big splash and cause issues for the instance and its admins. Wouldn’t be suprised if bots were involved to upvote the concern troll thread.
The community in question didn’t even have anything illegal on it. The troll argued “well they discussed pirating as a thing that exists”. That’s great, do you push for the shutting down of every “true crime” community too? Serial killing is pretty darn illegal but talking about it sure isn’t.
Completely understand this point of view. To me, it’s more of a strength but I do get why most people don’t want to be arsed with moving instances on occasion. I still prefer it to big corporations. By comparison, if that happened on reddit, you would have no option of just “moving to a new instance to access the content”. It’s just “sub’s gone, that’s it, set up your own website if you aren’t happy about it”.
In the end, I still see it as a win overall.
libs gonna lib.
That instance has been a shitshow with the arrival of a large amount of redditors and their “controversial but sensible classical liberal point of views” with strong opinions about women and people of color in general (but not in a racist way, I swear, more of a “race realism” sort of way).
You have literally every single website on the Internet to be a right wing conservative. Every single major one. you can go back to any of those if you want to hear about how brown people and women are going to doom the west. There is that reddit website I keep hearing about you would love.
Lol what, no. It’s because she’s for all intents and purposes the CEO, and better yet, an overly paid CEO. When’s the last time you’ve seen the CEO getting their comeuppance?
