There’s been research that language shapes how we perceive the world around us. Because there was no word for “blue” there was no concept of blue, the color still existed but their brains just lumped it into “green”. Sight works by the visual centers brain taking data from the eyes, throwing most of it out, then building a model which is what the rest of the brain gets to actually “see”. That’s why optical illusions work.

A commonly cited source for language shaping our perception of color is Jules Davidoff’s studies on the Himba tribe. The Himba have no word for blue, and they struggled to pick out the blue square from this color wheel. However, they do have many distinctions for shades of green so when given this color wheel they could easily pick out the square that’s a different shade of green (and yes I opened it in MSpaint to check and one of the green squares is a different shade.)

Eh, I’m gonna disagree. There were plenty of YA novels at about that time that were popular enough to get movies, were liked by girls and were written by women. The Hunger games, Divergent, heck even Harry Potter caught hardly any flak (well with the exception being when J.K. Rowling decided to take a hard right down Terf street).

IMO the reason why Twilight and Stephenie get so much hate is A) Stephenie isn’t a very good writer, and B) the central theme of the books is how important it is to have a boyfriend/be horny for a guy who wants to kill and eat you. This the bedrock of the Twilight hate, it’s a bland book with a bland plot which was only successful because tapped into a vein of teenage horny. Like… imagine if the central theme of Harry Potter was how attractive Harry found Voldemort and how much he wanted to bang him and teenagers were going wild for how romantic and inspiring their relationship was. I have a feeling this alternate version of Harry Potter would catch a lot more hate too.

When a games been sitting in my wishlist for a while it’s usually there for a reason. Sometimes it’s just that I have a glut of other games to play in that genre, sometimes I’m waiting for the game to improve. But usually it’s because I’ve looked at the game and said “I don’t think it’s worth that price” and am waiting for it to fall to something I consider reasonable. Obviously, a price hike isn’t going to help it reach that point.

I looked at Riftbreaker’s steam DB page and it looks like it was only some countries who got a price spike, so I’m guessing it was some sort of currency re-balancing. You know, the Ruble is weak so prices relative to the Dollar went up or whatever. All that being said my first point stands, if I didn’t want to buy a game at price X , I’m going to want to buy it even less at X * 1.5, regardless of what’s happening in international money markets.
