  • Look I can’t stand the Lemmygrad idiots either but you really don’t understand why developed nations would compare themselves to the global hegemon rather than India, Brazil or Mexico??? Especially when US perspectives are widely represented on both social media and news media? And when American culture constantly has a delusional state of superiority???
















  • So caffeine binds to adenosine receptors to block adenosine’s drowsiness effect. Melatonin binds to melatonin receptors to regulate circadian rhythms. As far as how adenosine interacts with melatonin, no idea. I’m no biochemist and what I’m about to say could be 100% incorrect, but it seems that adenosine is involved in melatonin production?

    So if it’s true that adenosine leads to melatonin production, then I’m guessing that the adenosine-blocking effect of caffeine would be (partially?) negated by ingesting a melatonin supplement, especially in the massive doses that they sell.

    My money is on SLEEP. [I got it backwards!! See below replies.]


  • Some good interactions here. Cant speak to the emotional content because I wasn’t present. Emotions are messy, who knows what happened between you two.

    All I can say is that the relevant parties saw your conditions of living and recognized them as the risk factors that they are. You living well, and choosing that life, is a pleasant outcome. But they can’t know that without doing a follow-up assessment. For all they know, you’re living in your car scraping up railroad spikes to buy today’s heroin.

    Highly disagree with the advice to lie to your doctor. As long as you are not a danger to others, making explicit threats to harm yourself, or harming a child, and as long as you’re following the laws, then they can’t force you to get services.

    Next time, just tell them that you’ve already been assessed and were found to not be at risk. And if someone stops by, be friendly… they’re doing a really hard job that puts a lot of good into the world for a lot of people. Take any pamphlets they got cuz it might be useful knowledge. Educate yourself, etc. And keep on truckin! Thanks for the post.



  • good points! this is a decent depiction of exposure therapy.

    TW have an odd history. they originally were very useful, because one thing you forgot to mention about exposure therapy is all the work that needs to be done leading up to it. you have to have physical grounding skills in place before exposing someone to adverse stimuli.

    so imagine you have severe PTSD from SA and a college class is gonna show a film that depicts it in an ugly scene. it could fuck up your whole semester to have traumatic stress symptoms come back unexpectedly. I’m talking panic attacks, flashbacks, mood disruption, difficulty controlling violent impulses, difficulty concentrating, difficulty connecting with others… PTSD can be wild.

    so the prof might give a TW on the syllabus, so people just dont come in that day if they don’t wanna see it.

    nowdays TW is just “here’s a thing you dont like!” not “here’s something that could potentially ruin your life again”
