Dogs are small like dogs, but they’re pretty popular
I mean, I always read it as “blow job job” anyway so it makes no odds to me either way
Moderation. It happens online all the time when you break the terms of service
I hate that the US made this post. They suck for doing that
As a developer, it’s not the coding of the GUI that’s a problem. Making a text box or a button or lining two items up does only take a minute. The issues are (in order of complexity for me):
Honestly, designing a good GUI is the hardest part for me.

I think quality of life is an important point. I know it’s selfish / narcissistic of me, but the main reason to stop climatic crisis is to improve people’s quality of life. The planet will keep turning and life will survive in some form, despite our best efforts. The rest of the solar system, galaxy, universe, won’t even notice. But humans on earth will notice. And if we are destroying quality of life to stop the climate crisis, what’s the point?
(Of course, changes are needed and some quality of life will be lost for the net gain of not dying slowly in an uninhabitable world, but I feel like the companionship of pets is a big deal to some people but a very small cost climate-wise)
I’m traveling through time right now!
Time is like space in that it can be distorted by gravity. If you get close enough to a black hole, then your perception of time will change compared to people on the outside. I don’t know why this is, it’s just a thing I know.
Also, as you move faster then your perception of time slows down. For example, if you went in a rocket at a good chunk of the speed of light then returned, you’d only experience one year passing but people left behind on earth would experience two years passing. You would both be objectively correct because the time actually moves at different rates (it’s not just a perception change in your brain). This is proven to work with GPS satellites. They move fast enough in orbit that their clocks slow down ever so slightly, and this needs to be accounted for so that we can have accurate positioning.
An analogy to understand this is to imagine a race across the desert. The finish line is 100m north of the start line. Two racers who move at the exact same speed are competing and set off at the same time. One person heads directly north, while the other one heads north-east. Who would get to the finish faster? Obviously the one who went directly north. Why? The other person wasted some of their travel on going slightly east. Now think of that same analogy with movement in time being north and movement in space being east. The faster you travel in space, the more of your movement through time is being “wasted”, so time slows down for you
So you’re saying that I shouldn’t breathe in nitrogen? There’s a thing called “oxygen toxicity” which can be caused by breathing pure oxygen and so actually breathing things other than oxygen is vital to our health.
The 78% nitrogen hanging out in the atmosphere begs to differ
I don’t really know what it is about “rainbow people” that I don’t like. To me, it makes an image in my head of a hillbilly shouting “dang nabbit, these god-darn rainbow people are invadin our schools and touchin our childun!”. Maybe it sounds like they didn’t want to dignify with a proper name and so described us as rainbow people because we all wear rainbows. But also it could just be my brain making weird connections
Strong no to rainbow people or alphabet people from me - it’s the sort of thing a homophobic person would say to be dismissive of us. I use “queer”, but I think this is location dependent. Where I’m from in the UK, people don’t use “queer” as an insult (but rather they use “fag” or “gay”) but in other places it has a different history.
I think the main thing is that you are being polite and specifically asking for input so your heart is in the right place. If you are speaking (rather than typing), I believe people will hear that you are being sincere and not dismissive even if you use the ‘wrong’ word.
Final suggestion: LGBTeeple (contraction of LGBT people) because it’s funny.
I get that 9/11 is a big cultural event for you guys, but you also have mass shootings like every other day…
I personally struggled for a long time trying to find the right label for my gender and sexuality. In the end, the right label for both is “just me”. Whatever I’m attracted to is what I’m attracted to. Whatever I feel like on a certain day is what gender I am. Just me doing me things
You’ve not heard me speak, baby
Immigrants are great actually, because they do labour for very cheap and you can blame all of society’s problems on them!
That’s the reverse situation though, isn’t it? You treated her as a woman and said “no thanks, I’m gay” and she responded with “it’s ok, because I have a dick and am basically a man”. Didn’t she just transphobia herself?
Yeah, but we all already know who she is
