the one run by a cult??? laundering money??? no way
it would increase the amount of light on the part the mirror is reflecting on i think, yeah
You know that it is. Simple as that. Especially phones. Thing is, most of what you do isn’t interesting enough to spy on. Don’t bring your phone when you do illegal activity. Otherwise don’t worry about it.
How is this not attacking my personality but continuing a discussion on a civil manner?
It’s a direct criticism of the argument you made. You are dishonestly bringing up plans to do in 2045 what should be done yesterday. You pretend to care about these issues but if you truly did care about these issues you would be utterly embarrassed by the ineffectiveness of what you’re supporting. You like the image of caring about the environment, but you have no interest in the actual solutions.

I’m impugning your character for claiming inaccurately and dishonestly that it is acceptable to baby step our way to 2045 when the world is already on fire.
Please refrain from using ad hominem attacks
Can you point out what part of my comment you mistook for an ad hominem attack so I can laugh at you even harder? I already know you don’t know what ad hominem is, but seeing the specific example will be particularly funny.
Do you realize how ridiculous you seem bringing up promises to do shit “by 2038” and “until 2045?” We needed to put an end to this shit by the year 2000. Your government won’t even have any of the same people in it in 2038. You think they’re going to give a shit what people said in 2024?
You’re advocating for so little that it may as well be nothing. At least the full “i dont give a shit about the environment, let 'er rip” people are honest. You’re exactly the same, you just like to pretend you’re better.
We also don’t know what to do with the waste from coal plants. The difference is that instead of having an easy to store, easy to track, completely harmless form of waste like that produced by nuclear plants, instead we just pump completely impossible to store, track, or mitigate pollutants straight into the atmosphere, ground, and water. Much better!
As an anarchist, I’ve been called a tankie so many times basically for expressing views left of Ronald Reagan. Why should one not be a tankie?
If I set my settings to English why can’t I just use Lemmy in English and never know that the person I’m chatting to is doing so in German and they never know that I’m doing so in English?
That would be really cool, unfortunately there is no translation software anywhere near that robust. Translation is a difficult and complicated job even for humans, and it’s one of those jobs that is way harder for computers than it is for us.
im not “pretending” anything, im making a point about horrible crimes people here thoughtlessly commit. you’re the one desperate to prove you’re a big boy who knows the meanings of basic english words and “prove me wrong” about things that are not related to the point you and i both know im making.
while we’re being all about definitions, let me point out that in English, the word “food” implies that something should be eaten, not only that it can be. for example, the classic finding nemo line, “Fish are friends, not food.”
if people eat it for sustenance it’s food
that’s a pretty shitty definition of food which includes humans and dogs
corpses aren’t food though
Usual where? What kind of barbarians just thoughtlessly murder for fun?
Dragonfruit meat. Why are so many people here pretending it’s normal to interpret this as being about animal corpses???
ne thing they do a decent job of is actually punishing people for bad behavior
Way too little, way too late. But yeah it does always feel good seeing the report feedback.
Why bother reporting them? They suck, they are going to do it again.
They might think twice if they got banned from Steam and lost their tens of thousands of hours and thousands of dollars worth of stuff on their steam profile.
If you write something, you own the copyright, period. There’s no registration process or anything like that. If you made it, it’s yours, legally. And the only process involved to exercise your legal rights would just be proving that you’re actually the one who made it.
Of course, none of that makes it certain that no one will claim it as their own or use it for something you don’t want. As a general rule, just assume that anything you don’t want used in a way you don’t like simply shouldn’t be put out into the public at all, regardless of what kind of license you package with it. If you’re an average person and not a billionaire good luck exercising any kind of legal rights for intangible stuff like written words.
It is generally a good idea to include with anything you put out there some kind of license, which could be as simple as a .txt file that says “Made by [name], free to use for xyz purposes with abc caveats”
For a book stuff like that can go into the first or last couple pages that usually include all sorts of random boring information and publisher credits and whatnot
