  • At my last job, every time they added or removed someone’s key card access, the system would reboot and everyone would be locked out for like two minutes.

We also had two floors that were connected by a fire stairwell, so you needed a card to re-enter the next floor.

At least twice my card stopped working in the middle of the word day while I was standing in the stairwell and I assumed that they just fired me and assumed I’d see my own way out.

Survived three layoffs at that company.

  • MP3 players are commodities now. Anyone who just wants iPod functionality can get it cheap, and there are even upmarket options for audiophiles with support for things like low impedance headphones that the iPod never supported.

There’s just not enough room in the market for Apple to re-insert themselves.

Also, they’d never ship a product that couldn’t somehow use AppleMusic.

  • I mean if you think of a car as a personal privacy pod, many people don’t have those inside their homes. I remember seeing this a lot on our walks during covid. I think some people needed a private place for a phone call or just needed to get away from their family for an hour or so when there was literally nowhere else to go.

Hate cars all you want, but this is hardly indicative of car culture.
