For me it’s between three. Atari 2600 b/c it’s the OG. NES & PS2 b/c in their respective times they were so incredibly ubiquitous and were in use for such long intervals of time.

Never liked coffee. I usually drink Yorkshire tea in the morning, but sometimes mix it up with other black teas. If I drink any during the day, it’s green tea. Evenings are for herbal teas if I have any.

I don’t have kids of my own, but through my time with my step-kids, I’ve learned I would’ve loved to have one or two. I totally understand people who don’t want kids. They can be a huge, expensive hassle. But I feel like I’ve gotten so much more back from them than it ever cost me. Plus they gave me this cup that I drink from every morning.

Awhile back, I got a bookbub deal alert email about a series called the Lattice Trilogy. When I read the synopsis, I wasn’t sure I’d buy the premise: a future where privacy simply doesn’t exist. Still, out of curiosity and an extremely low price, I gave it a read. Wound up reading all three books. Since then, I’ve been watching privacy die in much less sci-fi-y circumstances.

IIRC from high school, they taught us “V” was “Vega” and “W” was “doble Vega”. Looking at Wikipedia, I may be remembering that wrong. They have “ve” and “doble ve”

I learned about the companies selling refurbished Aerons on eBay and picked one up a couple years ago for $400. Love it!

I’m the exact opposite. Didn’t wear a watch for years after getting my first cellphone. Didn’t see the need for a watch when the smart watches started coming out. Can’t remember why I ultimately got an Apple Watch, but I’ve really liked it.

Too young to have seen them live or anything, but I’ve heard plenty of stories. The one that sticks out most was about a show they did, I think in Orlando, FL (not the infamous one in Miami). Basically, Morrison was too out of it to perform, so Densmore wound up singing and killed it. This has affected my opinion of him greatly. I’ve always seen him as someone who could’ve been great, but was too selfish and too much of a narcissist to get to that level.

For the home directory question, you actually don’t have to reboot at all. You’ll do most of this as the root user. Just create a new user and put its home directory somewhere like /tmp. Logout, log back in as your temp user, format the new drive, move your home directory (rsync is your friend), edit the fstab (I personally prefer labeling all my partitions and using the labels in fstab). After that, to test your settings, create a new, empty, /home matching the permissions of the old directory. Then type “mount -a”. This goes back through fstab and mounts everything listed if it’s not already mounted. Look for your home directory in /home. If it’s there, you should be able to “su - yourusername” and if you are in your home directory with all your files, you’re all good. No need to reboot. Log out of the temp user account, log back in as you and delete the temp user.

Most people watch sitcoms while doing something else, hence why so many had/have laugh tracks. Videos like this highlight why shows like 30 Rock and Arrested Development were critical darlings: the writing was so incredibly good! Unfortunately, you have to pay attention to appreciate good writing.

Add to this I read somewhere that she actually purchased more carbon credits than she would need for her tour to cover for unplanned travel - like to football games. Regardless of how some feel about the carbon credits, it’s more than nothing.

Can’t agree with this enough! This is not exactly what you’re talking about, but similar: I (in US) work with people all over the world, and I’ve found that folks not from my home country are more likely to call me by an abbreviated version of my name instead of the name I introduced myself as. Like if I said, “Hi, my name is Michael.” They will almost always call me “Mike.” Annoys the crap out of me. Because of this, I try to make it a point to ask if I’m not sure how to properly pronounce a person’s name.

I haven’t used Framework, but I’m a fan of most of the ThinkPad line. Not as good as the IBM days, but still a solid product.

Most are missing the point. You’re right, running AA or CP is akin to just using your phone with a vent mount, albeit arguably safer. The privacy issues come with things like OnStar and similar services that connect back to the manufacturer. As someone already pointed out it doesn’t sound like there’s a way to remove OnStar, but some others might be removeable, or not available in cheaper models.

Me too. It all comes down to not having to remember the little things you do or want done at the same time every day.
