Just recently replayed the No One Lives Forever series with my SO and it holds up so wildly well. Highly recommend, fun gameplay, low grind, excellent narrative storytelling. Slightly more grind for the second game, but still nothing like AAAs now.

I mean, not so much a strategy as a natural economic consequence of environmental preferences and higher labor prices in the states. The hypocrisy is having labor and environmental standards in the US that we are happy to let companies circumvent by simply doing that labor elsewhere.
