    They’re more secure (albeit in many wsys security through obscurity) than private, although the privacy aspect is probably among the best you can get by default as far as I can tell. On the other hand, if you’re willing to do some relatively simple steps and buy specific hardware, you can achieve better privacy and security on both mobile (graphene) and desktop (qubes) devices.

    I personally dislike them for building unrepareable crap, tho.

    CPUs are also somewhat choked. I had to use throttled to make mine run above 2.4 GHz under load. (You need HWP_MODE and possibly Disable_BDPROCHOT, if anyone’s interested).

    But other than that, waaaay better compared to …70 laptops, and some models seem to beat maxed out t440p-s. Also quicksync massively speeds up video decoding/encoding, so I’m overall happy with mine so far.

  • I have an older clone by zalman, and it’s meh. First of all, it only works with either fat32 or NTFS (although, I haven’t checked exfat), and you need to flash different firmware to change the compatible fs. Also, if the drive has multiple partitions, the last one becomes unmountable using this thingy (mismatch in real size and that advertised by the superblock, as far as I remember).

    Can the newer models ext4 at least?

  • I mean, I’m not saying PayPal and apps needing whatever play store check are shit, but… Oh, wait, I am saying they’re shit 😝

    Anyways, let’s try again. Yeah, librem kinda sucks, but mostly in terms of hardware, availability, and their situation with not delivering on time and not returning the money.

    Yeeeeah, nope. Seriously, all the ways of age verification suck 'cause age verification itself sucks.

    1. It’s unmaintainable for both websites and browsers (there’ll always be sites that say “fuck it”, and there’ll always be people to remove those checks from the browsers);
    2. It gives personal info to the entities that have no business handling it;
    3. [For sites] that would not leak the info: would you like an unsalted md5 with that?

    What’s the alternative? To not fucking verify the age. I’m really confused how even normies aren’t tired of that “protecting the kids” bullshit. Oh, they’re worried? How about trying to be a better fucking parent so that their kids don’t hesitate to talk to them about stuff or at least setting up parental control software.
