I need to disagree on pretty much all points. I switched both my mother and an old friend of mine to linux and neither of them had any major issues. They’re not technical people, but they understood the basics needed for everyday use without problem.
I swear, half the issues people report after trying out linux are entirely related to the nvidia drivers and nothing else.
Ubuntu will ask you if usage data can be collected and sent to canonical when you first log in after installation. You get to look at the exact data that would be sent before making a decision and if you say no, then they’ll comply with that and never ask you again.
use ollama to run dolphin-mixtral locally on linux
I just have them check for my wifi. If that’s what they’re connected to, then the nas is available. If not, then there’s no point trying to mount it. However, one day every month my nas pulls updates and shuts down afterwards, so that I need to boot it again when I get home from work. But my laptop boots just as fast as it normally does, even though it fails to connect to the nas.
Mod organizer has a linux install script on github that I’ve used without issues before. I play skyrim on Ubuntu 23.10 with well over 100 mods and it’s been largely just the same as on windows.
Write a systemd service, that’s how my computers mount my nas. you just need to have it run under your user instead of root or point it towards the right keys manually.
Doesn’t make sense to me either, without looking into it though.
When it was first rolled out I thought there was an issue with my graphics card drivers, but I honestly really like it now
Slavery (as an abstract, not necessarily racially motivated) has A LOT of benefits for the owning class.
I’m also vehemently opposed to any and all of it’s forms, just fyi.
They also have an accessible secure element that graphene uses a lot. I’d recommend listening to the podcast interviews with graphene staff
Should’ve clarified that it’s other users that are being granted elevated access, not the user sitting in front of the computer. Also, sudo doesn’t grant access, you must already have access to use sudo.
Root kit by definition means software that grants root privileges to whoever controls it. Anti-cheat, especially kernel level anti-cheat, does just that. Parts of the anti-cheat used for genshin impact has been used on entirely different computers to disable antivirus programs.
You confuse TPMs with Microsoft’s proprietary pluton processor, which is now being forced into consumer grade CPUs from AMD and Intel.
Check out ubuntu if you want something thats easy to install. It’s very popular, it’s based on Debian and it has corporate backing but no spyware
Welcome to the Linux community :)
They don’t even let you log in if your browser is set to block third party cookies. Fuck Microsoft.
Especially because you can install play services in a separate profile and install your banking apps only there
I wasn’t blaming cryptsetup, my mistake if it came across as though I did.
Thank you for taking the time to look into a possible fix, I might just reinstall with tpm-backed fde again to see if this really works.
I think there just hasn’t been an evolutionary need for them to regrow. In past millenia, people had kids and died before toothlessness really became an issue and teeth lasted longer before our modern industrial diet.
