Conservatives love this idea, to the point that they don’t even bother thinking about who is going to pay for it. If you did mandatory service for people 18-20 the armed forces would be roughly 20 times larger than it is now in terms of personnel, 10 times larger if it were mandatory for men only. Military spending is nearly 1/4 of the total budget as-is, where is the funding going to come from if you have 10 or 20 times as many people to arm and train?

And what the fuck are you going to have them all do? They’re just gonna bum around and fuck for two years and then go get free degrees on the GI bill, driving up the cost even further.

Thanks to Morrowind and Skyrim i still find myself absent-mindedly noticing “alchemy ingredients” when walking through the woods on hiking/camping trips, despite the fact that I haven’t played either game in a couple years at this point.

I was probably 9 or 10 at the time, visiting at a (wealthy) friends house, and my friend was showing me a bunch of his dads cool stuff, among which was a legitimate whip, like straight up indiana jones style. Naturally, I had to try it out…indoors…underneath the crystal chandelier hanging in their entryway…I wasn’t allowed over anymore after that.

They could have found a way if they had given a shit. Give the forums the option to take over hosting, or transfer them to an internet archive. Hell I bet there are enough data hoarders that would have been delighted to help ensure that data remained accessible without costing photobucket a dime.

Yes I think countries that routinely decapitate gay people, beat women to death with rocks for not wearing the right hat, condone or at the very least ignore the rape of women and children, and cut peoples hands off for shoplifting, whose atrocities only can’t be called genocide because it’s the same ethnic group killing each other, are worse than Israel, didn’t realize that was such a hot take. I’m not saying Israel is good, I’m just saying the US, along with most of Europe, has chosen to back the one country in the region that at least pretends to have western values.

Every president the US has had since 1948 has financed and supported Israel, with the full support of congress, regardless of what rhetoric those congressmen are spewing in the run-up to an election year. Congress sets the budget, and they sign off on giving Israel money every single year so don’t act like this is just Biden throwing money at them.

Every president after Biden will continue to do so as well. Israel is shitty but every other country in the region is exponentially shittier. That being said, I’m not happy with the way this is being handled either, but don’t pretend like Biden is handling things any differently than every president for the last 80 years - with the possible exception of Jimmy Carter - would have done.

The people calling the EU the fourth reich are the same people that will unironically say that Hitler wasn’t so bad, and actually did some good things for Germany. Right but there is in-game content that gives you an incentive to do so. If you want to get all the endings, you have to solo Lavos with Crono. And in my opinion it’s the best ending of the game, because you get to talk to sprites of the devs and it’s a really cool kinda 4th-wall breaking way to tie everything up at the end. Is it repetive? Sure, but so are 95% of the games that are coming out today.

I’ve never actually made it to max level, I just grind until I can solo Lavos with Crono, which I can usually consistently achieve by around level 70. It’s not an arbitrary grind, I have a specific goal in mind.

The newest versions of chrono trigger also have additional maps, dialog, items, and side quests that weren’t in the original game. It doesn’t add a ton of play time, but it was nice to have some new things to do in one of my favorite games of all time that I’ve probably played through 15 or 20 times already.

Chrono Trigger is at least double the play time If you go after all the endings and get all the secrets and do all the side quests, to say nothing of the opportunity for grinding to level your characters that you just don’t get with SMRPG since you max out at level 32 iirc. You can do everything there is to do in SMRPG in a day. A long-ish day, but a day nonetheless.
