This is exactly the analogy I use even trying to explain fediverse to normies.

I’m ok with the smarter people forming communities elsewhere like Lemmy. Reddit brain drain will definitely be a thing. It’s going to be the new Facebook when this is all over.

I love this app. Recently starting this morning it’s been crashing frequently a minute or so after I start scrolling my feed on Lemmy.ml. Not sure if it’s related to Lemmy.ml being overloaded or an app bug.

Basically just ripoff Apollo entirely.

I literally just bought an iPhone with a large part of that decision being the ability to use Apollo. I’m absolutely devastated. That app is a hardware seller. It’s the iOS equivalent of a Zelda title on a Nintendo console.

You have to remember that the vast majority of people are, for lack of a better word, pretty dumb. You say the word “fediverse” and their eyes cross.
