There’s also a certain kind of “hr energy” that makes my skin crawl. Like if you worked at a company called AB Tech they’d be up front in the meeting going “I SAY A, YOU SAY B! A!” and I’m just like no, please stop, I’m not that excited to make charts for assholes.
The hr person where I work now seems nice, at least. My old job the main hr person gave me the creeps.

Switched to Mint for desktop. Been mostly fine. Getting it installed was surprisingly harrowing. Annoyed that most mod tools for games are targeting windows. I guess I have to figure out wine and its whole prefix system.

They tend to be more authoritarian. That means they’re more likely to prioritize in-group above all else.
There’s a book about authoritarian personalities I was reading a while ago. It talks about an experiment where they did like a model UN, but secretly sorted all the authoritarian types into one game and everyone else into the other.
The authoritarians ruined the world. Like, nuclear war. When they got a do-over, they still fucked it up.
The other group basically cooperated and solved world hunger.
Authoritarians probably shouldn’t be allowed in positions of power. The GOP attracts a lot of them.

Low density places are always going to kind of suck on a lot of metrics. You just don’t have the people to support a lot of stuff. I’m sorry that small towns are dying but like there’s not really a reason they’d thrive.
Cities have been important since like the dawn of history. At least farms grow food. Suburban sprawl is the worst.
Cost of living needs to go down and wages up, but no one should be vying for low density.

Yeah. I consider myself somewhat tech savvy (I do software development for work) and I had a really bad time installing mint on my desktop. I got it to work after a day but that was far more than a casually interested person would put up with.
Yeah if I take photo/video I put the camera in front of my face or chest so no one behind me can see it.
Thinking about it, a lot of things that I flag as idiotic come from putting emotions first. We’re all emotional creatures, but idiots are ruled by them. It’s idiotic to blow your rent money on candy, but the short term emotional high for an idiot is too appealing. It’s stupid to blow up at someone instead of admitting fault, but admitting fault feels bad, so the idiot can’t take that. Reading an essay is informative, but that’s boring work and the idiot might feel bad if they don’t understand it, so they’d avoid the whole thing. If the essay doesn’t agree with their worldview, that’s going to feel terrible.
Neglecting public education is really going to keep biting us in the ass.

On here (and reddit, rip) and most forums, I don’t really look at the user name. I just read the content I think that’s a better setup.
Snake case, usually. Some perhaps unfounded fear that something will blow up on a dash in a file name kicking around. Or I’ll do a weird typo/premature enter and part of the file name will be treated like a -flag of some sort.
A lot of people are really quite stupid. On top of that, they’re in social groups (ie: tribes) that have shitty values.
Long term investing in education would help. So would things like removing lead from the environment, and fixing healthcare and labor laws so people aren’t so stressed all the time trying to survive.

I got to play video games with spider man and be in a book club with Captain marvel.
The deck building was pretty good. I wanted more cards and more excuses to use more heroes.
The fact that there’s no miss chance on attacks is subtle but a real improvement over the genre standard. And using the environment was a lot of fun, and very genre appropriate.
I mostly buy on steam to have my library in one place (without manually adding games) and the free cloud backup. And the Linux support.
Don’t forget about the halo effect. Someone on stage doing a killer set is going to seem hotter. When someone is good at one thing, we start to think they’re good at everything (where being hot is a thing).
