This makes a lot of sense, hard to understand otherwise
I use DisplayPort for two monitors (not daisychained) and it works, but that’s of no help to you. But perhaps it means there’s something about your setup that isn’t working rather than it being an inherent DP issue.
These days, if I’m just visiting a website to read one article like this, I just use the reader mode on firefox to strip out popups and everthing else
Just make sure you check the name of the community it was posted in first to avoid surprises

A kilt is a bit of a pain to loosen and tighten. Lifting is the only pratical option. Normal skirts might be different.
You can also let an add-on take care of this, e.g. ClearURLs or the “AdGuard URL Tracking Protection” filter in ublock
Edit: actually not much use if you are creating links to share from apps. It only strips the tracking from the URL in the address bar
