This is pretty much my thought. It’s an enjoyable movie, but I’ve always been of the opinion that “enjoyable” and “good” aren’t the same thing.
There are good movies and music that I don’t enjoy, and they’re are movies and music I enjoy that aren’t good.
Right? It shouldn’t be that hard. It should be possible to enable E2EE for this using a private / public key approach, where the app delivering notifications encrypts them using a private key unknown to Apple, but it’s encrypted such that all the devices receiving the notifications can decrypt the notifications.
Also, for anyone really worried about this, there are modified versions of Android that avoid using any cloud notification features (including the Google one that spies just like Apple’s). I know that doesn’t help if you want to use an iPhone, but phones do exist that bypass this whole thing. It’s also one of the reasons I wish Apple would open up iPhone more. Why do I get the option to remove the spying features on Android but not iOS?
I was thinking a lot of those patents are FRAND (or compulsory). Are they not?
I feel the same way about Volkswagen, but I think it’s something that might depend on where you are / which models are in your region. The Volkswagens in the USA seem to be shit, but they’re not getting the same ones in Europe.
There was a discussion elsewhere on the methodology. I don’t recall exactly, bit It sounds like it’s tied to the vehicle inspection process in Germany.
I don’t think the Pixel punishes you for unlocking the bootloader, does it? I bought a Pixel just to run GrapheneOS, and I feel like it’s the best of all worlds. It’s Android, so it has app compatibility, but it’s privacy respecting (even more so than iPhone) and security hardened.
I’ve debated switching to iPhone, but I suspect my country won’t get side loading, and then there was that research that pointed toward Apple tracking your activities even when you ask them not to (https://gizmodo.com/apple-iphone-analytics-tracking-even-when-off-app-store-1849757558). Between those two things, I just didn’t think I’d be happy with an iPhone. I might change my mind if we get side loading in the US, but I still don’t like their dishonesty about tracking.
I’ve decided the most privacy-conscious but still functional (in terms of app support) device is ironically a modified Pixel.
I honestly don’t understand the goal. It’s widely reported that X’s user numbers and revenue are way down. Elon has been greeted in public with angry chants of, “Bring back Twitter”. And the Reddit CEO has seen all of this and said. “Yeah, that’s the ticket to success.”
That’s been my issue. Many of the subs I followed on Reddit have been “recreated” on Lemmy, but there’s essentially no one posting in them on Lemmy. Even high-effort posts, like a helpful guide, will get 1 or 2 comments compared to dozens or hundreds on Reddit. Many posts get no obvious community interaction at all.
So you’re looking for a camera with no interface at all, even to set or change the password? Just a camera that serves an unauthenticated steam?
It’s ridiculous to me that they got a presidential override once before, and it’s ridiculous they’re hoping for a second one.
If some other company was found to violate Apple’s patents, and the president made the whole thing go away, Apple would cry foul.
