I do love having to give a 2 paragraph disquisition of caveats about how I didn’t vote for either major party candidate in 2016 or 2020, before I can make literally any comment on either of these people or the current state of US politics, lest I be downvoted into oblivion or accused of being an evil Repub shill.
Ironically when we do this on Lemmy we are qualifying ourselves to a cohort of mostly people who didn’t vote at all, or aren’t even Americans.

I enjoyed a lot of the game objectives… Automating the farm, going to the bottom of the mine and the desert thing, completing the community center, courting a spouse etc.
A lot of the grindy bits weren’t as fun, such as missing some season-specific cutscene or event and not having the exact right item, the feeling of needing to speed grow certain crops at the beginning of each season, etc.
Overall it was a chill and positive experience. The music is awesome, character interactions not too laborious. This game plays great on SteamDeck and with proper settings it sips battery. For a long flight, I would pair this title with stuff like Animal Well, Dead Cells, and Cave Blazers.
Just make an “open class” where any identification, body mods, and performance enhancing drugs are unregulated. The best athletes that science can create.
Trespasser was a vibe in some ways. The clean screen and unique control scheme was innovative at the time. Granted it doesn’t hold up very well now, but there were some cool concepts at least.

Spoon is an awesome band that mostly flies just below the radar while still quietly releasing awesome records. They have been active since the 90s and they don’t have a single bad album.
There are one or two accounts on Lemmy who seem to show up in every privacy or graphene thread and shit-talk GOS.
I say if there is something wrong with GOS or the code itself, identify it and prove it. The founder may have been “problematic” or whatever, but it doesn’t sound like that person is even associated with the project anymore.
I have personally daily-driven GOS for a year. It has worked well for me. I use a lot of FOSS apps. I use some traditional Play Store apps and avoid logging into Google and I manage permissions closely. I’d say GOS gives you options. Maybe some people would like other customized degoogled OS better, and that is fine. Just… for the love of all that is sacred, don’t use vanilla Googled Android.
Put aside all current issues and just look at the fundamentals. Obama was a charismatic politician and organizer who inspired youth vote and a way-above-average black turnout. Makes sense. Biden by contrast lacks rizz in any appreciable amount. He isn’t going to move the needle for young people or any particular groups. He has no built-in support.
It is really as simple as that.
Right, they need close air support, infantry support, scouts, supply chain logistics etc. all working together to be peak effective. If you just give some dudes an Abrams and a crash course in driving it and firing the main gun, they will be better off than the same crew of randos in a technical made out of a Toyota Tacoma, but they will still be vulnerable to modern threats.
It’s easy to understand why the modern drone threat is uniquely game-changing if you think of war like chess. Most advanced powers have now figured out that having a developed drone program is like giving yourself infinite pawns. You keep trading pawns for the opponents more valuable pieces. If Russia is able to spend a few thousand in drone hardware and explosives and destroy a multimillion dollar tank, they’ll make that trade any day.

Basically the only way to be 100% secure would be to create your own “private tor” by building a botnet, then making sure to burn/recycle the nodes, and only access it via a proxy gateway consisting of a raspberry pi that you purchased with cash, and paid a homeless dude to plug into the router at a public library in a city where you don’t live.
But realistically most peoples use cases fall somewhere on the spectrum between normal browsing and this extreme scenario. If you are doing something that illegal you probably need better opsec across the board. Most of the arrested darknet dudes got caught because of sloppy opsec in other areas, not because the Tor network failed.
I don’t think it was feasible at the time (2013) for the average American to know and understand the concept that their government was capturing essentially all mobile cellular and internet communications for storage and analysis in giant fusion centers.
The real tragedy is that many people now know and still don’t care, or have given into this bizarre cynical defeatism that we might as well just accept it. Hard disagree on those points.
