Sucks to live in Spain, I guess. The rest of us get spied on just fine without it being nearly as annoying. /s
I’m not sure why this is the focus rather than legislating that router/access point manufacturers create robust and simple to use parental controls and then running public service campaigns that educate parents on how to use them.
Not that I really care that much since I don’t watch porn. I just don’t think putting adult content behind a verification system that applies to everyone makes sense when the idea is to prevent kids, who generally have at least one person who controls the networking equipment and should be monitoring their devices/activity, from seeing it.
I was born in 1995, people are split on whether that’s millennial or gen Z. I guess I’ll round up and go gen Z. I have siblings born in the early '80s though so I watched a lot of older TV/movies and used a few late '80s to early '90s toys, games, and electronics.
Hm, you probably can, but I personally don’t and I’m not sure which file manager you’re using. I like the terminal for this because it’s quicker and easier to do (or undo if you fuck up).
I also gave you the wrong command earlier, sudo chown -R user:user ./*
doesn’t affect the top-level folder (e.g., /mnt/drive
). My mistake.
I also just saw your edit. Look into Linux ownership and permissions. chmod
and chown
are important commands to know how to use as a Linux system administrator.
Running sudo chown -R user:user ./drive
in /mnt
will give your user account ownership of that directory and all folders inside of it.
Make sure you replace user
with your username and drive
with the name of the mount point for the drive.
If you try to mount 2 drives to the same location, like /media/drive
, the last one that you mounted will just replace the first one. You could put one at /media/drive1
and the other at /media/drive2
though.
It doesn’t matter where you mount stuff, like it won’t break anything, as long as you’re not replacing an existing directory like I mentioned.
Yeah, I could never get NPM to work right on my system either. I use the NGINX Docker image and set up my certs manually.
If I were to do it all over again today, I would probably go with Caddy since it now has a bunch of that stuff built in with automatic HTTPS by default and the basic reverse proxy setup is literally 2 lines of code.
You could try Logseq, it’s like Obsidian but open source. I use Obsidian for most notes and I also have a personal wiki built with Otterwiki.
I use NGINX for my reverse proxy, you could check out NGINX Proxy Manager which uses Certbot to automate the SSL certificates.
I’ve heard a lot of people also like Caddy and Traefik. Can’t remember which is easier to use, maybe Caddy.

Are YouTube shorts still 1 minute maximum? Until that changes, I don’t think they’ll be a viable replacement since content longer than a minute seems to be the sweet spot for a sizeable amount of Tiktok’s user base. Especially when it comes to informative or political content.
That’s cool, thanks for the addition. I’m not much of a history guy.
The prefix Fitz- means “bastard son of,” according to my high school English teacher. So… the joke just got funnier, depending on your sense of humour.
FWIW, these are effective only when both are used on the same circuit. If you live in an older home, the chances of this being the case are higher.
My entire apartment, except for the washroom, is on the same circuit. It also means I can’t run an air conditioner without tripping the breaker. :|
I use Cockpit to manage my system and containers and Dashy as a browser dashboard. It’s similar to Heimdall but more minimal.
I also run Otterwiki and I’m planning on documenting my setup, but I haven’t got around to it yet.
Yes, I’ve heard some people say that they trust DOs more because they’re more deliberately trained to look at a larger picture of a person’s health. I don’t have my own opinion since I’ve never met with a DO.
Osteopaths (who have a Doctorate of Osteopathy and are often referred to as DOs) go to medical school and receive training that’s almost exactly the same as an MD.
Then you can’t “hide” your server IP without a VPS/VPN set up. Maybe I’m not understanding what you’re asking? Your public IP is visible to any machine you connect to and that includes Cloudflare’s servers.
Are you worried about copyright or something? This isn’t legal advice, but I doubt they give a shit unless you’re hosting content illegally for a large number of people. Obviously, only take the risk if you are comfortable with the potential consequences where you live.
I’m in a group that plays Vampire: The Masquerade (tabletop roleplaying game) every Saturday night. So I will be pretending to be a vampire.
Sunday I’m going to a Thai street food festival with my wife, so I’m gonna try not to stay up too late.
