One issue with “hacky” methods suggested here I can see is they might disable eCall in the EU. And eCall is actually a safety improvement so for some it might be a very suboptimal compromise. But maybe if enough people show resistance to uncontrolled data collection then some meaningful legislation will be passed.

This can be solved quite easily by introducing head-up-displays in cars showing the speed in front of the driver. HUDs were introduced years ago in some airliners allowing the pilots to maintain situational awareness while having quick access to the critical information about the aircraft. And introducing safety standards from commercial aviation is almost always a good step.

I am not quite sure buying a new laptop is better than Tor, unless you have a way to buy the laptops anonymously with cash and not being seen by any cameras. Then you would still need to connect to a different network every time.

I strongly disagree. The porn is a huge issue, but there are a lot of actually useful websites where kids and teens can learn about their interests. Gatekeeping all that knowledge would make young people significantly less knowledgeable
