Can you imagine being that guy’s partner, on the internet, reliving your trauma in joke/meme format and now you’re a baked ham

I’ve always been a native English speaker, but my first 11 years of education weren’t in the U.S. I also don’t have an issue with: their, there, and they’re.
Affect and effect were tough for me, though. I still have to think about it for a moment
And slightly off topic, I still can’t tell the difference between pansexual and bisexual. Each time I feel like I have a decent internal definition someone comes along to inform me that I’ve got it wrong
Ok, yeah. This is my favorite one. Love it
There are too many letters in “Rafael” for the average Texan to read. Ted is much easier for them
Same. My mind makes up random words to sounds all the time, so if I dont have context or lips to read, the sentences I hear people say are just wild.
I repeat things back to people wearing masks so that I can be sure that I understand them. It annoys some of them, but whatever
I feel like Sailor Moon is becoming the unofficial Lemmy mascot
Hey, you got it to work this time. She’s not on a desktop
Yeah, like what are we supposed to do when there are few side-walks, work is 30-1hr away at freeway speeds, and public transit is either dirty, unreliable, or unsafe?
Most of us want to do away with our fossil fuel dependancy- but we need better options.
And before anyone says walk or take a bike, that isn’t feasable for everyone
Agreed. I feel the same way. It’s like Nihilism is the gateway many of us have to pass through before we can understand our value (and the significance of life and all existence in general)
I wonder if you’ve come to the same conclusions that I have, or if your thinking branched off into something different.
Either way, we are who we were meant to be :)
They got me with the free prime delivery. I’ll get, like, a single bottle of Tylenol delivered. My husband likes the card benefits, so they got him there. Plus, sometimes we watch shows and movies if Netflix or Youtube doesn’t have them (we only pirate if what we want can’t be found elsewhere, since we are fortnate enough to be able to pay for the media we consume)
I hate to say it, but… it’s a great service
But even I can walk away, and stand in solidarity with workers. They deserve better, and Amazon can afford to give it to them
Also just not buy things from Amazon until the strike is over. Real stores exist!
(I say this as a recluse who buys almost everything online)
Hey, I used “wherewithal” the way you use the word, but my husband corrected me (and the dictionary confirmed it) that the word basically means money/resources (just fyi)
My husband is like that, too. Something I tell him is to not have seconds (as in, a second plate of food) for 10 minutes. If he’s still hungry, then he can eat. (I say the same thing about sleep. I tell him to just lay there for 10 minutes and see if he can sleep) usually works. Sometimes it doesnt. You could give it a try if you like
I get a firm “stop eating” signal and just can’t put any more food in my mouth when I’m full. It took me a long time to realize a lot of other people don’t have that built-in feature.
Strangest thing is 23 & me said that I am pre-disposed to weigh more than avegage.
I do not
Any tiny part, to me, is also part of the thing but that might then explain why I find those things so damn frustrating (I often get them “wrong”)
All right, so now just the majority of the thing is the thing. Thanks
Only thing imma disagree on is that we’ve ever reached peak human
That’s for him to know, us to guess, and his partners to find out
Nah, I’ve worked in dental. Those machines are insanely expensive. This is one hand-held unit for sale just under 3k, down from just under 7k . That doesn’t count the sensors, which are also crazy expensive.

Most offices have machines attached to the wall, which would be extremely difficult to steal. But a nomad is portable.

Above is ONE sensor (most offices have at least 2) that costs around 7k. There are other neccessities as well, but I think you get the point
