Totally agree. I am not compatible with summer.

Winter! Winter sports are awesome. Snow is beautiful. Long dark nights are cozy.
Let me guess, the downside is infinite teeth.

I started programming as a teen. I didn’t realize I could do that as a job (weird, I know), so I looked into lucrative careers I could do so I could afford to have lots of free time to program. Then I discovered that programming was also a job.
It will vary by actor. For example, the US military doesn’t like Strava because of its social running feature.
You need to think of the threat model for different actors and groups. There’s a lot of talk now about menstrual tracking for women in the US. Most of it won’t be obvious.
You don’t want to run afoul of big slop
I highly recommend leaving them alone during mating season.
Their cars. There were also a few staying in an abandoned building, but it burned down.
You need to wait until the sun is fully covered to shoot safely.
Mods on other communities have complained that they’re getting posts with images of CSAM or dead bodies.
Lemmy definitely needs a good new user experience, but tooling to address problems mods are suffering seems worthwhile.
Having said that, I don’t see anything in this proposal that would directly address those issues.
I’m not sure I’d use the phrase “privilege escalation” here, since it has a generally agreed upon meaning. Perhaps something like “gradual access”, “delayed privilege”, or something similar.
I’m not a mod. The complaints I’ve heard from mods have mostly come from image or news communities that are inundated with disturbing images (CSAM, dead bodies). If I were volunteering and I had to look at that shit, I think I’d quit on the spot.
Maybe tooling that addresses those needs would be worthwhile.
Alternatively: Hong Kong.
OP knows what you’ve been up to.
This is an excellent article. My fave part:
What kids are dying from today are mainly car crashes and suicides, not playing outside unsupervised with friends. Parents are worrying about the wrong causes of injuries and harm. In fact, the very strategies that parents use to try to keep their children safe – driving them around, maximizing supervision, and minimizing freedom – are unintentionally increasing the likelihood of injuries and even death.
I don’t think it’s in the right community tho.
Yes. When I’ve just been shitposting, I look forward to responses. If I’ve made a few serious comments, I dread that I’ve angered the hivemind.
I know that it makes no sense. But I’ve been honest, and there’s some part of me that’s afraid of negative feedback.
Yup. This is another genuinely unpopular opinion.
Sometimes being annoying is doing something wrong. If a kid is deliberately being disruptive after repeatedly being told not to, then yeah, they’re doing something wrong.
Ottawa!
Leave. Go for a walk, or a coffee, or go home. Nobody knows you aren’t in a meeting room.
If your co-workers are into it, have a LAN party. I used to work at a place that had a daily management-approved kill session. It was good.
