  • I think it depends on the airline. On my recent trip I noticed that American Airlines was charging to pick ANY seat. You could avoid the charge by letting it auto-assign the seat. Your idea to check in physically and request a certain seat MIGHT work, but you have to consider the timing. Most other passengers will have checked in online earlier and already have a seat assigned… If you wait until you arrive at the airport the seat selection might be limited. I like to check in online as early as possible so I can decide if I want to pay for a specific seat.

    That totally depends on the content. Using your example, yes, a video of an explosion is going be much more efficient than a block of text about the same explosion. But for something like this, I find it MUCH slower to try to glean the relevant information from a video than from an article. An article can be skimmed easily so I only have to focus on the parts that I care about. Skimming a video, on the other hand, is a pain. Also, if the content is a step-by-step how-to, the video might be OK as long as I can follow along in real time. However, if I have to keep pausing and going back to rewatch a section, then an article is going to be easier to work with.













  • When it comes to work, I “Reply All” by default for this exact reason. The only time I modify recipients is if I’m starting a side conversation that not everybody needs to be involved in.

    Broadcast emails, or emails asking for individual responses are the only time I would use “Reply”. However, I think in those circumstances the sender should be using “BCC” rather than “To” or “CC” in order to prevent annoying “Reply All” messages.
