You mean community? An instance is basically a server that connects to other instances, which themselves host communities on different topics.
On the web interface, you can create a community on your instance (Lemmy.ca). Once other instances have indexed your newly created community, it will appear to every member of their instances

I personally use a Firefox Nightly shortcut with uBlock, VideoBackground and SponsorBlock enabled for the YouTube website. Plus it works on all platforms.
I find it more reliable than Newpipe, who’s constantly on a cat and mouse run with Google.

TBH the digg -> reddit migration was a lot smoother. Reddit was an already well established platform
99.9% of their userbase weren’t even aware of third party apps, which frustrates me even more.

Lemmy has grown exponentially in the past month, it’s frankly amazing how well it’s able to sustain the massive influx of new users, but yeah, some features like this one are dearly missed
